Work Truck Build : Now featuring a budget!

Well the bed is just about wrapped up. The racks are basically done. Just gotta get a fire extinguisher and my highlift mounted. Also going to put some hooks on it to hang leads on. Then its on to lights, front bumper, and some cab steps.

Hopefully coming home this weekend with a welder.

Did you decide whether or not you're staying with IFS? I was thinking about it when I read it and IFS has a lot of benefits over solid axles in pretty much all categories other tha. Off road travel and durability. But then I was also thinking a solid axle would certainly be longer lasting and easier and cheaper to repair if and when the time comes.
Also, Ford and dodge both continued to use solid axles on its HD models. IMO chevy messed up ditching the solid axles all together and if I was in your shoes I would swap it out if the funds were available.

I will get rid of it eventually. Probably some time after snow is no longer a threat and 4wd wont be needed. I have no interested in keeping a front end thats notorious for destroying tires.

Im pretty sure Im going to add a vertical to extend the racks back to where the angle bar lands.

So I really didnt like the way the racks looked so I fixed them. More functional and it doesnt looks like a redneck no bender roll cage anymore.

I am going to add a front section but I need to paint the cab first.

Well I got a machine on the back. 2010ish gas bobcat 250 with 600hrs. Drove from jersey to rhode island and back last night....

I thought I made out pretty good. $2250 and he threw in about 35ft of 0/2 I saw laying in his garage after he said he wasnt sure where the leads were.

This just in, I need rear springs. Like really really bad.

Well I switched out the rear springs to one ton SRWs. I think the next step will be to order a shackle flip from kert or maybe cut my hangers up and make my own to save some money.

The springs put my truck back to how it sat before the welder. So thats a good thing. It still rides good, but has a 1in block under it right now too.

That bobcat looks to be in really good shape, nice setup.

Nice set up!

Thanks guys. The bobcat is in great shape. One minor dent up on the top back. I knocked a little of it out but its not even that noticeable. From the front it looks brand new.

I'm going to do a homebrew shackle flip on it Monday and crank the tbars up and try to get my 33s on. She's puny looking parked next to mutt Lol.

Well the shackle flip went good. Considering it cost about $10 in steel and 2hr a side start to finish it wasnt bad. The back came up a good 4-5" even with taking the 1" block out. I cranked the Tbars, think Im going to go a little more tomorrow but its sitting decent.

Im on the fence now about putting the 33s from the trooper on there. I may just go with some budget skinny offbrand 235/85s.

Before the tbar crank. Ass was WAY up.

Cranked 9 turns. Still rides just fine. I may try to get it up another inch or so.

Mine are Toyo M55s

Paul has 6 BFGs from Mutt!

I know I know but theyre 16.5s and the truck is currently 6 lug. Plus I want to run the factory 99-03 chevy 8 lug wheels when I do an SAS/8 lug swap and theyre 16in.

I think since my wallet is hurting enough as it is Im just gonna run the trooper tires for now. I would really rather have the tires I actually want on the s10 when I put it together. Although I could run those tires Paul has on the s10 with recentered H1s
