Oo...That's pretty sweet. I might actually look into that. If it's just a head gasket thats wrong with it, it might be kinda fun to rebuild it, like the old girl engine hoist. Is it 220v?

I still have a few loose ends to tie up and I'm mostly done with fabrication in regards to the 8.1 swap. Enough that I can finish in one day. Probably start looking into that compressor within the next week or two.

There's a big ass 8'x4' fab table with a 1/4" plate top up at my gramps...I made it 10+ years ago. It's too big for my gramps to use, so he said I can cut it in half and keep half of it. That's going to be sooooo awesome..a super stout, 4'x4' fab table with a vice and a nice clean, flat top surface + shelf underneath. :woot: The quality of what I'm able to produce will go up just based on having a solid work bench. I get very frustrated being hobbled by my lack of proper work space after doing all the super nice ultra4 work...we always had reallly nice stuff to work with. I got spoiled. Enough so that some projects that I could do now, I won't.

New table= No more clamping parts to the frame rails on my truck and banging away, or using my drill press as a welding bench...or squatting on the floor like one of those crazy fabricator dudes from Pakistan. I might get down on that today.

Transmission crossmember complete. Passenger side frame tie-in bracket made with Ruff Stuff tabs, driver side, my tabs. I sure wish I had a cnc laser cutter. :O Both frame tie-in brackets will get more plating and gussets when ever I pull the crossmember back out to paint it. I also plan on tying it all into the frame boxing whenever I tackle that. Ruff Stuff tabs on the passenger side, my tabs on the drivers side.

Tube is 2x2 .250 wall, except the DOM the bushings ride in...those were .120 wall, thus the gussets/plating you see.

Finally done with the crossmember, welded everything out and hit it with primer. Added a few fish plates, and a bit of clearanceing for the transfer-case flange. Easiest crossmember to install ever. Bolt one end into the frame brackets, pick the other end up, hinge it up into place, bolt it in. install 2 bolts into tcase adapter. 5 mins tops. :woot:

It doesn't look like it in thispic, but it is even with the bottom of the 205-

You should have put a piece of tube through the downleg part to allow a socket and extension to pass through the hole to the tranny mount.

I wanted to do that, but I do not have the material, the tools, the money or..... anything needed to accomplish that at a standard I would be happy with. Remember, I'm doing 99% of this with my welder and a 4.5" grinder. Nothing else, no chop saw, no torch, no plasma cutter, nadda. My dewalt cordless stuff now and then. And a pile of scrap steel I've hoarded over the years.

Bolt can be reached just fine with a socket + swivel/ujoint, or as normal with driveshaft removed.

It looks nice. You mentioned its even with the bottom of the 205. What about a removable skid plate of some kind that turns up on the ends to let it slide over stuff and not dig into mud, but can be unbolted from the crossmember to be straightened or replaced as needed?

Like you really need more stuff to do...........

This truck won't be driven in places where that sort of thing will be a problem. I do have a few ideas for a skid plate thingy. I still have the stock 205 skid, might build something off that. Might not. I might just be done messin with my grinder. Some days my right hand feels like it's forever stuck in the shape of a dewalt grinder. I use mine one handed 95% of the time, no handle.

It looks really good and plenty strong.

It doesn't seem like there is much room left to pass the exhaust between the frame and t-case with the crossmember mounted in the middle vertically like that? Maybe there is more room than it looks like.

Also, if it's mounted rigid in the middle and those crossmember mounts are wider than the motor mounts, I would be worried about a cracked trans case.

No progress on this cause it's the end of the month...ran out of money. :haha:

But, a dude is coming to buy my old 454 and some other stuff here in a few hours. + $500 to the budget. :woot: That gets me a professionally re-worked harness, pedal, ecm, tac and maf. Another couple hundo gets me the ecm reflashed. Then on to engine front drive/accessories, interior, exhaust and then fuel system. Put the truck back together...and peel out! :pimp1:burnout

454 went to it's new owner this morning. He said it's going in an old FJ60 Land Cruiser.:waytogo:

I should have my harness/ecm stuff within the next 2 weeks.

Buddy at pacfab has pretty much everything I need from a parts truck he has. I had planed on just buying things from him as money came in/on the first of every month etc. In addition to a killer deal on the harness stuff, he offered to let me take EVERYTHING I need, instrument panel/dash, accessories/front drive stuff, brackets etc, and pay him for the stuff later, as money comes in. :eek1::bow: That means I can get this done WAY faster, and stay busy with stuff to do for a good long while. Wooohoo! :woot:

I asked Steve for a name change. The kidjethro name needed to go...times change, needed a refresh. :)

Wait a sec, you are kid jethro?

I either forgot, or got confused.

I remember a regular cab IFS truck with a 5speed on 38's? that got way over worked. Was that you too?
