Zimmer's Fatboy power tour. 6/1/15...Now touring NC

been looking at a lot of bags...the traditional HD hardbags are anywhere from 300 without hardware to 800 with hardware and mounting, and I'd still have to paint to match my bike.

I ran into the Hardstreet makers at the SEMA show and liked the quality of their stuff, made in USA, billet hardware and a little more rounded look to match the rear fender line better than the classic HD hardbags...

This would basically be my fender with the Hardstreet bags on it:

And the typical HD ABS/fiberglass bags on a fatboy:

Awesome, gotta come home from Moab, one way or another.
Is that a Duece? Sweet...was also wondering how cold does I-70 highest elevation get in mid Sept?

Nah, it's an 05 Wide Glide. Fuel injected with a Power Commander 5. I changed the cams last year. Dyno'd at 80ho/80tq. When I do the other half of the upgrade making it a 98" it should make 110hp/110tq

I'd say daytime temps would be 70's-80 for the most part. Some of the mountain passes may be a little cooler, especially in the evening. Denver area in the daytime gets a little warmer..90's

OK professional weather guesser..:haha:
I think I-70 gets up to a little over 11K ft....I remember snow on July 4th on Independence pass....that worries me...50's I can deal with, but snow and 40's...No.

Both styles look good to me, but the ones on the blue bike seem bigger.

I think the Hardstreet bags actually offer more c.i. than the stock HD ones do.

Hey Dave...enjoy the ride :waytogo::waytogo::waytogo:

My first bike was a 86 Heritage Softail...rode all over with that thing...

IMO, I'd get some R-K bags from a cop bike. Had them on my e-glide, and the hocky puck knob makes it so much easier to open...I use to open mine at stop lights when taking my reflective vest off upon leaving the base...:waytogo:

looks like a great Idea Ray...haven't run across any of those and new HD bags are fockin spensive....I'll try a couple bike shops close by and see what they got too.

got mine off of fleabay, back when it was a good deal...:dunno:

check these out clicky

Dang man, EPIC road trip.

Shweeeeeeet.

My completely motorcycle worthless opinion is 62's option seems cool.

Then again there's a guy who I see at work often with what can best be described as a "rat rod softail" and he has two 20mm ammo cans on it for saddle bags.
Fugly, but fits the bike's vibe.

Couple of guys here locally use ammo boxes...they've been to the sandbox...

The police bags I lost out on, but am getting to like the Hardstreet bags a little more...they fit the bike better than the square/angled HD ones, add a touch of custom to it:

I went with the LeatherPro's on mine. Fully detachable in about 2 seconds each. They can be locked on the bike and have locking lids as well

I really want to incorporate the paintjob into the bags though....And I think they are easier to keep clean....just don't let it fall over though.

Haven't had any luck bidding on the HD bags, and none in town to choose from the local shops, and the local HD dealer can kiss my ass, so I think I will get the Hardstreet bags and work them into the plan, I like the way they tuck into the bike closer too.

I Ran across these old pics of my sporty today....kinda miss it, but mostly I don't, as long as I got the FB!

Ha! 50 miles on that Sporty & you'll remember why you don't have it anymore!

yeah, it was about a 100 mi. bike....that is when it ran out of gas, and I was ready to get off it. I really don't know if my back could take it anymore? It was a fun little fast focker though....020 over cyl and some head work, spec cams, and 1.75x40 drag pipes....fun times.

buddy of mine has a 69 sporty...I did some work on it, liked to kill myself test driving it. The rear brake & shifter were reversed! :eek1::eek1::eek1:

another buddy had an old hardtail panhead...I drove it around the block, that was enough for me, and I was only 30 then...:haha:

I'm thinking if I get another bike, it'll be a Gold Wing :pimp:
