No, my heater hoses are in the front of the engine. I have an aluminum Weland intake.

Right now I'm weighing out my options. This 305 has done me good but it has some leaky gaskets that need to be repaired. How deep do I dig into it before it's not worth it? :dunno:

I'm thinking it may be time to step it up a notch. :D Either way, the first step is to yank the engine.
 
I thought about rebuilding my 305 last year since it was leaking oil and smoking all the time, but I found a good, running 350 for about 1/3 the price of the parts to rebuild the 305. I say if you're taking the engine out then you may as well just put something else back in.
 
Easy fix. Toss it back in, and start an engine build while still being able to drive it.

I may have had a small leak on the back of the intake manifold so I figured I should take care of that real quick while I have the engine pulled.image.jpeg

I found some carbon build up at the exhaust crossover so I figure I should clean it up while I'm here.

I pulled the heads...

I decarbonized the Pistons and cylinder walls.

I cleaned up the combustion chamber and valves too...

I replaced the rear man seal and freeze plugs.

I stripped paint for a while.

About 1/2 way through the intake manifold.

I spent days cleaning this.

I put my mad grip tape skills to work masking off everything I didn't want painted.

I got the plastic wrap out for the valve covers.

As I was inspecting my parts I found a bent pushrod.

I got my new timing kit in today.

This kit came with a cam button and a locking ring. Now there is no more play in the cam.

must have had some serious slack in that chain. AKA the self timing system :D
