So gears are all but done. I goofed and ordered a 30 spline locker instead of a 35 spline so I’m waiting on the right one to get here this week. Then I slap the front together and oil everything up for a spin up and down the longest driveway I know. On the bright side, the rest of my door parts have arrived so I can finally tear into those.

You guys need to invest in a case spreader. Totally worth it. Much less fight taking diffs out and back in.

Hammer was $20 after consulting the receipt.
It’s been another week and more progress towards being Blazer Bash ready. It’s back on all 4s and rolling around the shop. I made a mistake and didn’t secure the drivers side caliper while the axle was torn down and it fell. When it reached the end of brake line it bounce, stretched and kinked the steel braided line :doah:
I had to get a new line made at this point and luckily the the Hose and Rubber supply here in town makes custom brake lines. E480EC30-3578-4DD4-9658-CD143FE2C0F5.jpeg
After getting that installed, I moved onto measuring for new shock mounts for the front end, and that meant flexing.

Finally getting around to the doors. The upper hinges were still rotating fine but the bushings were shot. The lowers though were immovable by hand. We had to use some heat to get the pins out. I was shocked to find the old bushings were plastic.
The new pins and bushings are so nice and smooth.

With the hinges all freshened up we got to hanging the doors. It took a little work but we got them lined up better than I had hoped. The body lines are way better than before and the doors work perfect now.

Once the doors were hung, it was time to get the fenders on. I had to trim out the inner fenders to clear the new shocks and I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.

Two steps forward and one step back. There seems to be a common enough issue with 700r4 transmissions that the vent tube can get clogged and it burps fluid out the dipstick tube.
This started happening and so to fix it, I pulled out the interior to pop the trans tunnel.

i was able to get a bunch of crud out of the vent tube and tested it a few times to make sure fluid wasn’t coming out of the dipstick anymore.

I ran the vent tube on the trans in the crew cab up to the firewall in the engine bay with a catch can and filter. Might be worth considering something similar on yours.

That’s a good idea

The jimmy is out of the shop and driving!
first impressions are good on all the changes except these Yokohama tires are directional and hate being run backwards. They sound like boggers going down the road.
CE0C160C-D40F-4C9F-8E2E-5A6DE7A6C10D.jpeg I took my wife out in the truck for a date night on Saturday and all was going well until we pulled into the neighborhood and lost power. All the lights shut off and we could see something illuminating under the hood.
turns out the alternator that I just got was bad and the charging stud had come out

while I wait on a warranty replacement to arrive tomorrow, I set to work getting the little things wrapped up on the Jimmy.
Since I had the doors apart, I added sound deadening as well as new interior door handles that I hope will last longer than a few weeks.
