1973 K10 : Chloe

1973 K10 offroad build
I am absolutely amazed, the four(4) cab mounting bolts, that have body bushings, and the sheet metal around them is completely rotted away, they turned, easily!
I put my 24" Snap-On breakerbar, with 19mm impact socket(that's what I found first),
Layed underneath, and they all, just turned easily.
I was expecting torches and spray lubricants.
Not sure what to do now...

Just a bit of small things today.
1st pic - I cut an access hole for the wire harness to pass through. Used a piece of 3/8ths fuel line and bit of structural sealant to ensure the harness doesn't get damaged in the passthrough.
2nd & 3rd are the start of a throttle cable bracket. More to follow.

Very nice! I’ve got an 03 CCLB 4x4 w/ 8.1 & Allison. It’ll tow anything I put behind it without even breathing hard. I always love to read about any swap involving one.

With Covid appearantly still kicking my ass, I'm just doing bits and pieces. I finally welded up my (CUSTOM) RH upper AC bracket. Since a factory one doesn't exist.
I made some custom 10.9, 10 x 1.5 studs, because I didn't like how the bolts felt, holding it all together. Very happy now, as I can have AC. I'll have to build a belt tensioner mount, since I want a single, spring loaded tensioner. Like most modern engines use. Shouldn't be a big deal.

Got a new inner fender installed, so I could mock up where the relay/distribution/PCM box had to go. About 12 inches forward and 2.5 inches towards the passenger side should do nicely.
RH inner fender, on the way, hopefully Tuesday.

20221106_133654.jpgFinally, got around to getting the AC compressor cleaned bit, and mounted. I still need to replace the clutch/pulley assembly on it, as it needs a 6 groove as opposed to the 4 groove, that's on it now.

Nope, don't like the drive by wire. Never sat right with me.
I got the throttlebody from a Vortec 454

I think mine was tuned wrong... guy did a hot tune and when truck was runnin, barely touch gas and tires spin. hoping tmorrow to be able to turn key again.. no fires i hope... then figure out hptuners throttle setting.

Mine is bone stock. No DBW, no speed sensor.
Old school TPS, MAF, IAC, O2's and a mechanical throttlebody.
I had the tune built to match that setup. Not looking for huge HP/Torque numbers. Just want it to get down the road.

Wow! Look what else just showed up. Brand new wiring harness. 24 circut, with provisions for everything electric.
I still need to find a relay board. I want to power the entire engine from relays.
Lots of work in front of me...

same to a point.. want stock.. stock 2002 where parts are off shelf, more power than my sbc and efi reliability...
hoping to have that soon.
