My own fault. I bought as a basket case. Guy I bought it from bought it that way too.
I gave it quick once over, just looking, couldn’t see anything obvious, threw head gaskets, cam, timing chain, oil pump. On it, and sealed it up, hoping (hope, is never a good plan) that the bottom end would be OK. Well, it wasn’t.
#6 con rod and wrist pin left the chat.
The engine was a total loss. Crank all beat up. As deep as the gouges are, I’m sure it’s not repairable.
I beat the con rod with a 2 pound sledge. Looked up in the hole in the pan and could see space to move it so it would turn and come out. So, that’s what I did.
I have a line on a 2003 Silverado 3500 that a tree fell on it. Engine runs well, just cab an bed are crushed.
Hopefully, I can pick it up in the next couple of days, and get all my mods and changes done to it, then install it over the weekend.
