1974 K10 Dirty Sancho

Saved from cruel and unusual punishment
The 12b in my old ‘75 spit a tooth from the pinion gear out through the cover about a block from my house. That was on a sub-zero morning on my way to gas up for a snow run. I was a snow packed street and it had zero traction from the snow.

It don’t always matter on how much power you got. Sometimes it’s just fatigue and time. The 350 barely had enough power to pull itself around. Sounded like a gunshot and the cover looked like a bullet came from the inside out.

damn, it's bee a year since this thread has been updated. I finally put a new windshield in it, with a new precision seal and chrome locking strip. The dash is starting to bother me now.....

I have been told by my glass guy that he won’t install one unless it’s a gm seal. Which is not happening.
How do you feel like the quality of the precision seal compares to oem?

I also sourced a 6 lug SF 14 bolt with 4.10's and a gov lock from @imiceman44 . It's from a gmt400 so I need to strip the spring perches, bump pads, shock mounts, clean, blast and paint it. The pinion seal is sweating so I'll swap that out too. Should be a nice upgrade from the open 12 bolt it has now.

My glass guy won't install the glass in these trucks regardless of the seal used. I can't say I've used an OE seal unless the seal I reused on my other trucks was OE. It wasn't too bad but you have to take your time and use a liberal amount of window cleaner when installing the glass into the seal and the lock strip. I was able to handle it by myself too.

The glass guy said to use WD40 on the seal but I didn't want that shit all over my truck.

I found some 1/2" studs for my SF 14.
That seemed to allow for a better tapered seat fit to the wheels, IMO.
Maybe it will help with selecting shank lug nuts. :dunno:
I don't have a clue where the part number is, so I'm not great help..

Dorman 610-449 is what someone on here posted. Can’t remember what thread though.

I'm using precision seals in everything and they windshield fits just as good as the OEM I have to cut out. I even have an independent dealer for precision down the road from me that keeps everything for a squarebody in stock.
