Sooooooo much busy lately...
Depending on who's threads you frequent y'all have probably caught wind that I am moving.
Wife and I have decided to vacate the Colorado scene and go somewhere that is greener and cheaper. The house we have been in has been cleaned up, touched up, re carpeted, and will be reroofed on Tuesday.
On June 20th I packed up a 26 foot Uhaul with all of my garage stuff and camping stuff and totes of inside stuff that can withstand a non-climate controlled experience. I handed the keys to my dad, then jumped in my Jolly Green Giant and we headed for my Uncle's farm in Southern Illinois. The truck did good for the roughly 900 miles, only using one quart of oil (and 90ish gallons of gas, lol).
My Uncle is easily one of my favorite guys on this whole planet. He told me to bring out whatever you want, we have the space,
Loading and unloading the toolbox was fun, but a Uhaul ramp that is rated for 1000 lbs will momentarily support 1500...
Our current house never even made it to market. We had a "coming soon" sign out in front of the house with intentions of putting it out there by yesterday, July 3rd. On June 29, we had an offer come through sight unseen, 15k above asking, with no contingencies. Only reason the buyer can back out penalty free would be if they find a "condemn-able" condition on inspection. So basically a done deal. There are no structural or health issues in the house.
Closing date is August 6.
So the plan moving forward is to find a rental on the western outskirts of St. Louis, get to work on working. We'll take as much time as necessary to stack more funds and look for the best 5-20 acres we can find for our budget. My current house is 1324 sq ft, on a 3904 sq ft lot. We want a 2000+ sq ft house with room outside to roam. I should be able to come up with that for the same price or just slightly more than what I am paying for here in CO. And the best part, most of the properties we are seeing have decent shops already built... Lots of 50x28 or 40x40 or similar, already concreted and powered buildings with wrap around porches and 10-14 foot doors. Most also have plumbing ready for a bathroom, or bathroom installed and functional. I can't wait to buy a tractor. I want to till up a 1/2 acre or so, grow fruits and veggies. Looking to get some chickens, a couple pigs, maybe even a beef or two. Lots of stuff is still TBD, but I am looking forward to it.
Thank God for Independence Day, for all of the obvious reasons, but also because the holiday weekend has given me a couple days of rest. Celebrate America gentlemen, and ladies, and wish me luck, I will update as I can.
