You have a large item you could dispose of on the right...
Haha, wifey would kill me.

Not because the heep would be gone...

But because she has it stuck in her head that it is worth way more than it actually is. She'll be pretty upset when she finds out that we might pull 4500 for it. Maybe. And that is after I fix it...

You never know, those Jeep people will may way too much for something they don't have to build.

As it sits currently, it is a 145k cherokee with a bad motor, 6.5" long arm lift, 33's, 4.56's in stock axles, some bumpers, lights and a roof rack. The body is in terrific shape, though, and everything works inside.

If I fixed the engine, and went through some other things that appear less than stellar, I believe that with the current Jeep market out here, 4500 would be pushing it. I see Cherokees on tons and 38's for 5k all the time...

I tend to think a good on/offroad capable rig is worth more than an XJ on tons that likely drives like a pile of shit down the road.
Her Jeep does need some help in the "on road" department...

The guy that built it for her (way before she was with me...) skimped on some stuff and raped her wallet in the process.

I am fairly certain the brakes were never fully bled. The rear pinion is pointed about 3 degrees too high, and it has a 6 degree shim back there. They make 3 degree shims... WTF is a 6 doing there?

I am hesitant to open it up in a way because some things I can't let slide...

I do want to fix it but $$$$ is the true variable here. I can easily see this running up to 4 grand to make things right. It likely won't be near that much, but who knows...

he used those shims because he's a lazy POS and that's what he had on the shelf.

Shims and brake bleeding is minor stuff in comparison to other things it could be though.

Alright....

FINALLY

GOT

MY

STEERING

HAPPY.

My brain hurts now.

@mrk5 @Kay86K5 the wife has cleared a wheeling trip next weekend. maybe we could talk @bent72 to come play also.

Now if we can just get @Kay86K5 to take a break from packing and get on the interwebs.

I don't think @bent72 goes wheeling anymore.

Sorry guys...been freaking busy with trying to sell my house, figure out where we are gonna live up in ID, and figure out how to get all my crap + 2 vehicles that need to be towed up there, haha.

I'm a very soft maybe for this weekend. Where would you guys like to go wheeling if I can make it? I may just say screw it and take this Saturday off to have one more wheeling trip!!

We had talked about Kelly Flats? :dunno:

It was an electronic version of the factory thermal style. plug and play, they run about 10 bucks and should be on the shelf at any parts store or truck stop.

The thermal ones used factory won't receive enough load from the LED bulbs to heat the bi-metallic strip.

Picked one of these up tonight. Plugged it in and nothing. What am I missing?:dunno:

There could be other issues...

I remember that alternator output made a difference in mine. My first alternator on this truck was weak. If I turned on the heater and the headlights, the turn signals quick working.

I suppose the first question would be did you have working turn signals before you swapped to LED's?

Yep, everything worked as it should. Wired my tailights up and nothing.

If you only wired the rears, and changed nothing in the front, unplug the bulb in the side marker light and try again.
