Well after getting my stuff from ORD I got the 205 reassembled, mostly. I'm not too sure which rear yoke I am going to run yet so that still needs to be installed. I'm sure it is going to be easier to put the shifters in after the fact but I wanted to see what it all looked like.

I'm a fan of using those side mounts on the t case, too.

Are you talking about the mount that runs from the bellhousing bolt to the two bolt boss on the t-case?

On some of the older bodies, there is a "L" shaped bracket that goes to those two holes, then straight to the frame on the passenger side.
Then a couple of poly bushings each side the bracket with a few through bolts.

I saw something like that on a ford in the junkyard that I pulled apart to get my 32 spline front output shaft. Seems like it would be easy enough to duplicate with a little angle iron and some bushings from a bolt style sway bar link.

Toying with putting this TBI motor in and running it. I have the fuel tank and pump/sender from the burb, ecm, a bunch of the wiring including the ALDL comnector, pretty much everything except for the frame mounted hard fuel lines and the year specific evap canister. My current exhaust system is due for replacement too, so it wouldn't be a big deal to account for the O2 sensors. The burb engine was overhauled prior to my acquiring it, and ran smooth when I drove it home. Only real reason I haven't committed is because I know the engine I have (q-jet 350) is also a lower mile motor and seat of the pants says it makes more power than the burb engine. I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on wheeling with the q-jet, and for reference, I'm gonna be running 700R4, 205, 4.10's and 38 inch mud grapplers.

I honestly don't believe that you will be happy with that combination.
The reason that I say this is with your drive train specs, you will have to do quite a bit of bumping up against / over obstacles. The carb can give you some grief doing that. I bet that it will be good enough for most situations, but there will be times that it gives you some problems.

But I guess it depends on what you do wheeling too.

Admittedly, I won't be able to wheel this as much as I like, it will definitely get more street time than offroad time. And I've never actually been rock crawling. Best I'd call it is good washed trails where you still get crossed up but nothing major. I want to get into some nastier stuff but it'll probably only be a couple times a year that I'll be able to go. Eventually I want to re gear to 4.88s or 5.13s, but I won't do that until I find a d60 for up front.

Also planning a doubler after more funds, but that could be a while.

Just to be clear, you are suggesting to TBI this thing right?

One more thing, if I stick with my current motor it is going to be resealed anyway. Maybe just throw all of the TBI stuff on that one...

Haha, sorry, yes! TBI will improve the drive ability enough that I don't think that you will notice even if you lose a tiny bit of power.

Now , if you want more power AND the TBI, talk to @bent72 !

Yeah, gonna have to get with @bent72 . He has already offered some advice/assistance, I simply haven't had enough time to properly educate myself before I head directly to him with questions.

Just don't ask him for help with body work! He does good work, just not straight or shiny!!
LMAO! !!

Somebody call me?

Yes to TBI. Absolutely works well both on and off road. If you know cam & compression changes, great. If not you can chip it other ways
