1981 K20

6" lift. 3/4 ton axles.
He is going to jump it in the sand. Everyone knows Strong heavy axles are bad at that. Better get a weak 10 bolt set up and tell everyone they are silly for going 60/14ff.

Hmmm, this feels like its directed at me

:haha:
:haha:
ironically enough, i was planning to keep the 10 bolt up front as well. some deals are just too good to pass up.

So today ordered my u bolt kit from WFO. Even tho it came with brand new u bolts. I just needed the stud setup. Plus when I order the new springs I want from ORD, ill have brand new u bolts to use then. Also getting some lift stainless brake lines from my buddy this weekend. Pick up some new calipers and get this install all finished up

Picked up a few things today. Got my new calipers and pads. Painted the calipers just to keep em from looking so ugly after awhile.
Also got extended stainless lines from a buddy. Also got the ubolt straps and a ubolt style kit that ill use later. With everything I have in my possession plus the studs coming Monday, ill have the 60 install complete. Unfortunately I'm working tomoro or I'd get the brakes pounded out.
Obligatory pic.

Want to get the shackle flip installed hopefully in a week or two. And need to finish the sliders and a few other odds an ends.

Finished up the sliders today. No new pictures as they look the same as the last ones, only now they've been painted and bolted on. Just trying to keep plugging along and getting things knocked out as I go

Just ordered up this kit so I can get steering knocked out hopefully by next weekend. I've been stuck in the house all week cuz all day Monday and Tuesday I had something bothering my eye. Went in Wednesday morning, and the dr pulled a piece of rust out of my cornea. Been stuck in the house as my vision being all wonky was causing a bunch of vertigo/nausea if I moved around too much. Hoping to do some work today tho as long as I can hold steady.

Slapped em on
Also hooked up my front extended brake lines, front driveshaft, and the old shocks today.

Need to spend a little more time but I think I'm gonna go nap off the club sammich she just made me

Dropped off my front driveshaft.
At static height it's fully bottomed out so it's getting shortened a longer slip section and all new greasable joints.

Played with mounting my shocks up front. My bilsteins are just a touch too long to pull off the stock mounts. Going to cut up my ford towers and make some new mounts.

Looks like it should work out. Got it sitting about 4" higher than stock. Leaves me with a perfect split of 5.5" up, 6.5" down give or take

Also got the drivers side brakes installed while I was in there. After work tomoro ill try to get the shock all bolted together and maybe finish the passenger side brakes and shock

Gotta say, this truck is coming along nicely!

Picked up a new 2wd box and some new pressure line today. My high steer kit shows up tomoro and my driveshaft will be ready after work.

Part shmorgasborg.
2wd steering box
New driveshaft
High steer kit

Unfortunately the driveshaft although retubed and all new greasable joints, IS EXACTLY THE SAME LENGTH AS WHEN I TOOK IT GET SHORTENED!!!
So I gotta call them in the morning. Apparently they took my static measurement and used it as the fully collapsed measurement. So I went ahead and installed the steering box. Of course that was a pita cuz I could either lift the box or thread the bolt but not both at same time. Finally get one and then the box swinging trapped my thumb against the inner fender trying to cut my thumb off. Had to go head to head with my new steering lines but got them and the steering shaft back on. So now as much progress as I was hoping for but another day in paradise. Try to get back at it tomoro

love working with a good shop that supports its customers.

called the driveshaft shop this morning. told him the situation. no arguments, no back and forths. said damn that sucks, i'll take care of it, bring it back.
i'm a repeat customer but i will be again in the future if i need one done.

south bay driveline in san jose = thumbs up

also, get my optima battery box from ruffstuff coming in this afternoon, for the battery i dont have. have to work on that as well.

I just had the exact same thing happen to me :haha:. They didn't know how it happened, but they said sorry and went ahead and shortened it "again".

Figure it out on my shaft at least. The problem was he was doin measurements off a straight shaft on a table. I measured mine off the truck which has a sharp angle. Apparently that's enough to make it wonky. But this go ahead its perfect. Bout 40% compression and 60% extension which is exactly what I wanted. So it's all bolted on and ready
