1981 K20

6" lift. 3/4 ton axles.
Good deal on the harness. Hopefully you get it soon

Keep on mind all the different timing tabs Chevy used. Between the damper and tab, you can really fork yourself

If the chain was off, I think you’d have more issues

You think maybe just the tab doesn’t match the balancer?
Yep, what KTM said.
You need a tool that goes in the plug hole and roll the engine over each way, then mark the damper or change it.

Otherwise pull a head. And no one wants that

There’s already a mark there so I’m gonna take it as the true timing mark.
It’s just weird that it’s so far off from the line on the balancer. Where itd need to be to be correct would be pretty much directly underneath the water pump.

Yeah. That’s where the factory block in my 77 was timed

I rolled the damper pointed down and painted a red and white stripe where I wanted the marks

They make fancy stickers for dampener timing marks too but good luck getting that on anything but a brand new one.

That’s essentially what’s on there now. It’s a white paint line that is easily visible. So I’m going to just keep using that.

I’ve seen those. Maybe one day when I do cam and heads I’ll deal with it, but for now I just need to focus on the easy stuff.

Multiple progresses today.
Shock upgradeinstalled. Unfortunately it’s not on the chevy. Putting a long travel kit on my mega cab. Nice shocks are nice.

Also working on the chevy.
Working with fitech tech support to figure out the handheld. Hunkered a power wire direct from the battery bypassing the power from the handheld. Unit works perfectly.
Didn’t have to supply a ground so now I’m wondering if it’s a ground issue or a power issue. When I check the positive and negative of the wire off the throttle body I show 12v. So something is screwy but we are getting closer. Also going to take the neighbor kid for a ride here shortly. He’s always loved my “monster” trucks and I figure I owe him a good ride since we move out next week.
