It wasn't the tabs, it was the hoops. It was something I found and liked the design.

You dont have to apologize for anything. I was just trying to remind you that if its only a couple dollar differance, lets order from a cool dude if possible. When its not, (like the hoops) you gotta buy from where you gotta buy from. And if someone has items cheaper, well, you cant just toss money away.
I completely agree, the tabs got tossed in because it's easier to pay for shipping once and it's a cheap item why not?

I wish it was going faster, Greg is trying to create the impossible and doing a fine job at that. I'm just a kid with no clue what I'm doing.

I've been thinking about using a shock hoop like the Ballistic version you're getting. I haven't found anyone else making them. So I'll be curious to hear how it works out for you.

When I installed the shocks for my 52" swap the brackets I used caused the frame to crack around the mounting holes. This is the article I did that shows the original brackets: http://coloradok5.com/custom-doetsch-tech-shock-install.shtml
I had to go back and modify the brackets so they fit around the frame like a C so there are bolts in the top and bottom as well. I used similar brackets to my original design in the rear but I put a bar across the truck tying the tops together. Didn't get cracks back there, so that would be another option as well if you can do something that bridges the motor somehow.
That's why I talked about the frame bracing also. I just assume a cross bar is used. Without it, it's just a pavement pounder.
I'm glad you guys brought this up, my idea is to add maybe a leg down from the shock mount to the top of the C on the frame. I would get a L plate and have 2 bolts on each side of the tube top tube.
Then for the 2 main legs have plate welded to the frame and 3 bolts on each leg. Then once the engine is final in have a engine tube made with flanges to unbolt.
If this isn't clear I could whip it up in 3d, I'm having a hard time explaining it.

Any shock mount mounted on our frames that is going to be used hard needs to be braced up more than just welded to the long side leg of the frame.
I think if you braced up the frame ( doesn't need to be thick but it does need to be on all 3 legs of the c) especially if you could manage to do the fish plates a couple inches out on each side and all the way in between the legs of the shock mount. And included your extra brace to where the fish plates were welded. I think you could get away with out an engine cross bar.
An engine cross bar would guarantee you would have no problems though. So its not a bad idea at all

Last night I stared on a 3d model of what I intend on doing. I will post up pictures for everyone to critique.
I most likely down the road will be going to a linked setup so I want to build it to support coil overs.

This is my first idea for the hoop/engine cage. Not sure if I need the 3rd leg on the hoops but I think it wouldn't hurt. I'm also thinking about in the middle of the hoops having the bump stop. I will probably do one big fish plate around the frame typing the hoops and bumps together.

Hahah, I know it's not to scale and the shocks are floating.
Is that all seperate parts assembled... Or is that just one big solid model?
