A guy my brother works with is a welder, so I'm going to see about welding up my frame. Does anyone know if the ORD weld in repair kit for the steering box work on a 2wd frame?

Don't see why not. The steering boxes are interchangeable -- 2WD boxes are often used for 4WD crossover -- so the bolt pattern / shape should be identical.
yes 4wd will fit 2wd section. tiny trimming on main side plate needed. and i have to clearence the 1 front section so my bumper brace will line up with the 1/2 covered hole .
Looking at the frame today trying to accomplish something I came up with a idea.
What If I reused the IFS engine cross member and cut the ears off the over hang the frame rails. This would add a lot more strength I would assume but the problem comes with contact of the front diff. What do you guys think?
i'd leave it man. you are plannin on liftin it, right? once you lift it the diff should have plenty of room, which means its more important if it clears your engine oil pan?
