1989 Crew Cab Tow Rig Build

I honestly thought that was a common thing. My dad and brother run that setup on their company trucks that have bags on them.

It is cool as crap though.

or in the gas door, that's where I mounted mine for the Tahoe. People look at you funny with an air chuck pointed inside your gas door at the gas station though :rotfl:

G-body El Camino's had factory air shocks as an option at least and they had the fill valve inside the gas door. Or at least both of my Dad's elkys were that way.

I thought about the gas door, but for my truck, if i ever need to change a fuel pump, pulling the bed is way easier than dropping the tank. So the least amount of things to have to unbolt to do that job the better. With the valves on the bumper on the license plate, if I ever have to pull the bed, i don’t have to touch anything with the bags

Took the crew cab with the camper hunting this last weekend. First off, the bags in the rear made quite a bit of difference in ride quality and stability with the camper on the back, so overall it was worth it to put the bags on the back. Also, the weather was crazy as I showed up Friday evening and it was a nice almost 60 degrees. Woke up Saturday morning and it was a blizzard and dumped 6-8” in 6 hours, and in the middle of the blizzard there was thunder and lighting, which was freaking weird. On Saturday night it got down to the teens in temps, but with my little buddy heater in my camper, I was roasty toasty :D.

It was a good trip, truck ran great, camper was very comfortable, and shot a little buck for meat in the freezer, which is always good

The snow is pretty but I'm sure it was a pain to deal with.

Do the camper jacks not reach the ground?

Almost all of Saturday we couldn’t hunt cause it was snowing so hard, so that sucked, but the next day the deer were out in full force, so it worked out good. And the roads weren’t that bad at all driving home, so it wasn’t bad.

On the crew cab with the 285’s on, the jacks just barely don’t touch the ground, so I have some wood blocks to put the jacks down when using it. And I use cinder blocks to get it in and out of the truck. Its not that bad. With 265’s on, i can get it in and out without any blocks at all

Half the bolts on your square body are metric. Time to get with the times.

My buddy Nate is always saying "What is that, a 15mm?" and I'm like "Hell if I know; it's like a 9/16 or something."
