Got the old tank out little trick if you are taking it out for the first time in a blazer the strap bolts are much easier to get to if you put the tailgate down. Straight shot for em then plenty of room.
So this tank was worse than I thought it was.
Its pretty hard to see but there is no less than 8 jb weld repairs on this tank. one with a screw in it to plug a hole. There was also no dent in the skid plate and a huge dent in the gas tank. PO goodness right there.
This is what pushing down with a phillips head screwdriver ( not even very hard, bout the same pressure you would use turning a screw out) did
Went right through several other places looked that thin too.
So thought it was licked and was cleaning the sending unit up to reuse, and low and behold it is so rusted on the top that yep it had some super thing spots on it that just scraping with a screw driver produced holes in it.
I really don't want to spend the money on a new sender but it looks like I am gonna have to. Oh well. Got a buddy that is going to use my old tires and he is gonna hand mount my new ones for me tomorrow so he can get the old ones on his rig
Off to shop for a cheap sending unit
