1990 K5 Build ( Ol' Blue ) : Rocker rust...

im skeptical on if an easy inch would give me enough space or not so id hate to risk a leaf.. i guess ill put this all back to stock tomorrow and order up some easy inches from ORD..:weld::what:

Do you have enough length on the ubolts to add a 1” ?

Keep in mind if you go too tall the drag link will possibly have issues on compression

yea for sure but for now im just gonna try and make this work with easy inches. It wont be wheeled at all for awhile.

hahaha.... nope... good call, gotta order some more of those i guess from ord too... this might get back burnered for awhile now. Dont really have any money at the moment...

Ah to bad! Good to see you doing all this though... one day I would like to do it to on of the 77s.

Not to many guys upgrading 10 bolts. I like it!

crossover and then rust repair and thats probably it for a long time. i dont need a d60.. no tire upsizing and other upgrades until this thing is rust free. not gonna wheel it much anymore either. Just gonna work on it and keep it alive.. tailpan and rear quarters are hurting hard...

Finding a daily driver as soon as I'm working again so I can tackle the rear tailpan, quarters, and inner quarters.

I don't think you need much clearance to the springs, even 1/4" should do really.

i had about an eight of an inch to the bottom of the leaf. when rotated and the bar moves and also rises in height, BDS put a spring clamp right there with a rivet on the bottom as well.. fml. so i figure the easy inch will solve my problem and worst case i could grind down the rivet head a little if needed as its very thick and conical shaped. I am going to order some ubolts and easy inches next month maybe when im working again and re-do the install at the new rental unit ( fingers crossed ) that has lots of space to work on this thing.

Id like to change the taper in the knuckles, but lots of them you are supposed to weld in and my welder wouldnt support that kind of welding.. easy inches and ubolts are cheap and also keep things factory and changeable in the future. I thought making a heim tie rod would be a good idea but the cost was near 200 dollars and it only gained me .45 inches of space since the tubing was 1.25 inches thick and my rie rod OD right now is only an inch. so gain 3/4 inch but loose .25 in extra tubing width...

im also going to have to weld some sort of bracket for my steering stabilizer. or get some plating and u bolt it to the tie rod and fab up a seat for the shock tab post.

If you don't need an inch, don't take it, you can do the same thing as an easy inch with what ever thickness you actually need. ORD even has their 1/4" plates available...

I totally agree with you but I think an inch will leave me with a 1/4 inch rougly of space. When it's at it highest point during travel . I'm going to bust out a tape tomorrow before I order anything and do some solid measurements.

Looks like your tie rod end has a hole for the stabilizer already?

It does but since the tie rod is higher now it would be at an angle at the stock mounting location on the axle housing. I may be able to get a longer bolt and move it up on it's stock location.

All back together and the black is spreading. When I pealed that trim off the door it took the paint with it and I started to get quite large spots of surface rust because well... It's rained like 500 mm this month haha. So I sanded them down and painted them for now.

I once had a white K5, which piece by piece became a flat black K5...I approve! Don't forget to paint the diff covers black too. lol

paint them black!? but a black truck gives endless amounts of ideas for colouring the underside of the truck... i also want to get some bright purple LEDS that just illuminate the entire grounds when im parked haha :flipoff7:

pink knuckles, tie rod, and drag link. and bright green diff covers also.
