1990 K5 Build ( Ol' Blue ) : Rocker rust...

What year XJ is your shaft from? Btw even a brand new XJ shaft is roughly $75. The Borgeson shaft is waste of money.

The guy said it was 91-92. Must be the right year but not an xj Possibly, sucks cuz its a bolt in fit, just too long.. I saw crown automotive makes XJ shafts for about 200. Im going to keep shopping around for now, i don't wanna dish out too much cash, especially if you can find them for about 75 bucks

Id say its been crushed by now, thats was quite some time ago. I shoulda stuck around and nabbed it. Maybe pick n pull on the west side? in a few weeks when the weather is better ill take a few looks. Sucks cuz they are usually never in there, getting to that point that they are all getting rusted out, by the 20-26 year mark

I want to grab a vortec 350 in the next month or so anyways, and was hoping to recruit some help. Might be a good time to check for an XJ shaft...

Thanks @Chevy305, alot of vendors dont ship to canada though, and thats the pain in ass im finding , when looking for one. Ill keep my eyes open online, for some. Theres jeep shops ,that sell parts , and ive seen some online for as low as 50 bucks, but none ship up here. Canada fuggin sucks for truck parts!

Also didnt know about changing the bearing, that, i might be able to find at a parts store! Thanks again

I mean for the bearing, my original was dry and sloppy but yours might not necessarily be bad.

Ill definitely check mine, now that i know its a changeable part! Thanks

no pick and pull junk yards around? I got mine from one of those yards for $30 IIRC.

And I can tell by looking at the pic of the "XJ" shaft that's it's way to long. It should be able to collapse several inches when correctly installed in case of a front end collision.

Good info here https://ck5.com/forums/threads/jeep-xj-steering-shaft-sweet-upgrade.286086/

There is a pick n pull here, just not many xjs in them. Its also been winter so my eagerness to hit the yards has been slim.. Its starting to warm up though, and rene wants to pull a vortec 350, so im going to look when we hunt one down.

If you get in a pickle and really need one I can grab one, XJ's are dime a dozen in the yards around here.

The parts from ORD showed up. I do beleive i ordered the wrong u bolts by accident. They are 14 inch u bolts, meant for 3-4 inch blocks. ... I assumed they were for 3-4 inches of lift..:doah::doah: Oh well.. After some measuring, they should work anyway, since i am planing on using the zero rates i have, to compensate for the 1 inch longer shackles i installed upfront. Ill start fitting it all up this weekend when i get some time :D
