2000 GMC SAS: Hydro assist assistance

Even stock 6.0's are no slouch. I'm so used to driving my old 12 valve cummins that gives up much past 2k rpm that it surprises me when I'm driving the shop truck ('06 2500hd with a 6.0) and I go to get on it getting on the freeway and it just keeps spinning and spinning.

Go get some more dunes pics! :)

I've got a little over 5k miles on the build, here's a little update.

I drive it almost daily, mainly around town. I enjoy driving it, most everyone enjoys seeing it. Its a fun truck. I use it around the house a bit, and I've even been driving it out of town to tractor jobs on occasion over unhooking the trailer from the Dodge. With the new CD player and the AC charged its pretty pleasant to be in for extended periods.

First, whats broken:

Bent front springs.
Broken transfer case adapter
Leaking front output seal (twice)
Two flat tires
Broken grill from snatch strap breaking

What I've done in the last few weeks:

Put in a new CD player, front speakers, and sub. All stuff I had donated and laying around.
Got tail lights and tailgate put on.
Wired old LED tail light into bed for lighting.
Replaced door hinge bushings on drivers side.
What needs fixed:

Damn cruise control stopped working.
One reverse light.
Leaking front output
Front diff needs a breather hose, rear needs extended.
Need full length fuel filler hose.
Need GMC emblem for grill (important...)
Need to find someone with frame machine, or figure out home brew solution.
Need longer rear shackle. Rear springs really settled after pulling a spring out of pack, looks like pre runner.

The bed is bent. The frame is bent on the same side. Makes the truck look really crooked. I need to find a good anchor and jack or find someone with a frame machine to get it closer. Drives fine, looks weird.

Took it out a few days ago to some land a buddy owns. Grown up, needed a saw. Hornets got in the cab, got stung 5 times. Wasnt fun. The whole place looks like this. I need to build a bumper. I was half way in the creek, my limo doesnt like to turn very well.

Took a door off to do the hinges. Easy job. Might take doors off in the future for a fun dune trip.

Might spend the next two days at the river. Havent been there yet, should be fun.

Just a few pictures from Disney today. Truck did good. Bent the rocker and passenger doors. Bent the driver side body mount bracket and dinged the frame. Front door doesnt want to shut without being slammed hard. I might mess with it later on, but I dont have to use that door so it doesnt bother me.

The white k5 belongs to metalneverdies.

My fat ass walking at the waterfall. I'm 6'2" for reference. Its vertical. Didnt think I'd make it.

Cool, just hope you're not around in that last pic if she lets go. I bet that'd fill up fast. :)

Pics turned out good. Much better than the one I snapped.

I think I'm officially addicted. Thanks to the rutted out rock river bottoms I convinced my wife to let me get some tuft country lift springs. Stock 25yr old springs are a bit rough.

Your truck is a beast.

Looks good. Long wheelbase helps on waterfall. I make an annual trip with a club down there the first of November. You should join us.

No joke. I've got enough wheelbase for two trucks, I think it's about 146".

I'd be more than happy to join you up there as long as your club didn't mind me tagging along. I wasn't sure how I'd like rocks. I'm hooked.

Few more off my phone, mostly of the K5.

And the least intimidating named police force in the world.

Time for some sliders.

No joke. I havent decided how much of the rocker I'm going to cut yet or if I want to find someone with a bender and make some tube sliders.

These monstrous things showed up today. I backed the truck into the shop and proceeded to sit in it for 25 minutes because I didnt want to get out of the air conditioner. It was 109 and about 695% humidity.

It sits half assed level now. I dont have much for shackle angle but I didnt lose any travel as far as I can tell. May be using a shock as a limit strap, I didnt investigate extensively. Too hot. I'll move the hanger forward one day. I'm getting the itch to hack a foot or so out of the wheelbase. I've been trying to fight the urge.

It always looks weird on this side because of the way the bedside is caved in. Its fairly level compared to what it was.

Took it to the mud run yesterday. Got stuck in a hole, got stuck on some rocks. Drove it there and home. Did good, but needs more power for the mud when it gets this sticky.

D*** that looks nasty

It was. I dont normally do mud but I figured it would be fun. It was so sticky it wouldnt ooze back into the ruts. I sat in that hole for half an hour and you could still clearly see my tracks all the way to the bottom. I probably wont go back out there with a truck, too many drunk idiots. Some of the big power mud trucks were pretty awesome to watch though.

That was my second issue when I went with my buddies.

A-Mud gets everywhere. It's a bitch to clean.

B-The crowd was mostly drunken yokels and they were doing stupid things that got dumber as they got drunker.

No more mudbogs for me, even as a spectator.

just weighing in but I like the stance
never been a fan of level or ass high trucks
slightly lower in the back, like half inch to an inch looks great IMO

PS> higher in back if it's a lowered truck or hauler

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with the stance as well. And to be honest I'm tired of messing with it, so even if I didnt like it I would probably settle and be done. It looks better from the passenger side, the damaged bedside on the left makes it look a little weird.

Went to the river today. Drove it there and back, about 20 miles each way, went 10 miles down river. Beat on it like a rented mule. No cool trees to flex on like the Nebraska boys, so I did the pre runner thing. No in motion shots, but we had a good time. Buddy took his new Dodge, too.

This plane has been there the last two times I've been there. Last time it was flying much lower. He kept circling us, it was pretty neat watching him fly that low.
