2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
Just buy it and rob the front axle from the white truck.

No! He's SOOOOOOOO close to finally getting it togeth-SQUIRREL.

Stock power diesels are not worth the cost of driving. If you’re not gonna up the power it’s pointless.

I used to think this. But after towing my burb back from Utah through the mountains behind my friends ‘03 LB7 the simplicity of stock is nice. My LBZ never struggled either.

but I will say this also, my current truck is a dodge with a deleted 6.7 and 6 speed and it’s a monster

Yeah baby. My free breathing 6.7 keeps me paying the cost of diesel more than I should be.

I'll second this. My stock '01 lb7 pulls just fine and gets reasonably good fuel economy while it's at it. Mine is a daily driver and I prefer the reliability and driveability of stock over anything modified. Now if it's going to be a project and livability in daily life is not a concern, go to town.

Since progress is halted currently with the Jimmy, I decided to give the 6.5 some love.

Starting with the rust repair today.

Years of a leaking rear window have caused all this crap under the drivers seat.

Thankfully it was all caught before it got too bad.

Mostly cleaned up ready for some Por15 tomorrow.

I took carpet out of my '90 and put vinyl in. Never again, even though it's easier to clean. Stuff slides easier, especially the mats. Yes, I use floor mats to keep from wearing holes in it quickly.
That's a good point I hadn't considered. But in my last vinyl floored truck I didn't use mats.

It's my personal preference. I don't like to wear out something more expensive and harder to replace, when I can put a mat on top. But then I get cranky when they slide.

I completely understand that. My truck has 298k on it and the carpet is in horrible shape. Bare spots, black stains in grey carpet, just a mess. That's one of the things I need to look into replacing soon.

Unfortunately I’m having trouble finding vinyl flooring for a crew cab. May have to do carpet.

Carpet. Vinyl is what they put in work trucks. Your hauling your family not a landscape crew.

Kids would be the exact reason I'd put vinyl in. Messy little buggers. I've got vinyl in mine and it's zero issues to clean. Vac out the dirt, wipe it down. Cleaning spills don't require a carpet shampooer just a few paper towels.

As far as putting mats down on vinyl it's as simple as adding a couple snaps to the flooring and the mats. Snap them in and they won't slide at all.

Lesson of the day kids:

Always seal your windows as soon as they start leaking.

Previous owner let the window leak for years, then I got the truck and had no idea it was leaking. Once I found it, I should have done something then.

Passenger side is not as bad, but definitely not good.

I went vinyl in the Jimmy because it is specifically for wheeling. My work truck has vinyl also. But for a DD, I would install carpet.
