I don't know if this would cause just a back fire but maybe the timing chain skipped a tooth, back fire I would think timing.

I haven't looked at the timing at all yet. Tomorrow it's all getting the vacuum gauge tune.

I'm a bit confused now. :)

http://dyeager535.topcities.com/partsmanual.html The E4MED diagram shows what I've always known as the APT, parts 15-17 and 70.

So I guess a Q-jet may have APT, even if it's not setup through the top of the air horn. I'm wondering what is supposed to be in that hole in yours then, if anything??

I don't think anything goes there...I think.

More ideas....more pix on the way. Thinking about chopping a shortbed truck in half and welding it to my frame after I chop it off, making a crewcab shortbed, and flaring the fenders and bedsides to fit the dually axles with SRW wheels.

Here's a couple key pix from that pirate thread. Try to look past the paint. :D
I like the shortened shortbed, but it would be hard to flare with that short of a fender area. Long shortbed would be easier too. Maybe still fit saddle tanks??? I need a shortbed truck to look at/hack.

It might look funny, but I've even though about putting a stepside bed behind the crewcab...here's a sweptline Dodge. Even has Michelins on it. I think the sweptline is my all time favorite truck body style.

Anyone got more pix/ideas?

Personally, I'd keep the duals and especially keep the long bed, but to each his own. I've seen some nicely done short bed crew cabs. Here are a couple pics.

I really like the stepside crewcab. A lot. My brother's is a stepside, and it has several advantages. I like how they look, I think they're lighter, the floor can be replaced with expanded metal so you can see what you're doing, and the shape is much less damage prone.

Thanks man, you rock.

I may leave it as is, at least for awhile (after lift, cut, tires). There are a couple places around here it simply wouldn't fit though...

Since I keep mentioning my brother's truck, and I'm kinda using it for a how-to, here's some pix and info.

First, it only weighs 4800#

305/350/241?/HP60/14FF Standard CK5 Xover, braces, etc. Late model tahoe rear springs in front, Furd 57s in rear. 39" Michelin XLs.

As far as front fenders, I think I'm gonna cut them like his, maybe flare them and do some sort of tubbing of the inner fenders. Anyone have any pics/input on inner fenders?

the threads always die when pics of my truck are posted.........

Let me delete that post real quick...:D

Fooled with the Qjet again tonight. Think maybe I set float too low. Fuel pump runs and has good pressure, but I have a clear prefilter and it's not filling up, maybe the needle and seat are holding it back....? Runs fine at idle, kinda at WOT, not part throttle.

Paint Ideas...

I like the black/silver/red. Not gonna be fancy though. Flat and I'm gonna DIY.

I love the black/silver 2 tone look! It would look even sicker with a red stripe separating the 2 colors. A little like that GTO but bigger.

More flared stuff. Anyone done their own flaring of steel fenders?
That's Mark Newhan's truck. Those fenders are 'glass, as is everything besides the actual cab and possibly the doors.

I LIKE that Riv!!!

So how much frame flex is too much? That's about the most I've seen there on that stepside...

the amount that mine flexs as evidenced by the pic is too much:haha:

i bet half my flex if frame flex.....the only way to cure it is to cage it all up as rigid as possilbe.

Still waiting on smog. If it smogs, I'm tearing into the mods. If not....dunno yet.

NO KIDDING. The tech aound here is dead. Lame. I'm the only one building, and I'm not getting a lot of input.
