Lookin' good, Ash. Good job on keeping the corners matched up. :waytogo:
LOL! I was just thinking "I wonder if anyone would even notice if I screwed it up". glad I kept up on it.

What are you using to hang the vinyl?

I've always just used roofing nails. I did see that they now have aluminum nails to use, but I didn't think it was necessary. I used aluminum nails for the soffit and facia though, since those are more likely to get wet.
With a dedicated garage space like that who cares what "project" is next..... :D

My suggestion: roll out some carpet under the truck and just lay down under there staring up at the suspension, crossmembers, etc. I do that a lot and always end up with some cool ideas as a result.
I'm actually leaning towards the top. :D ever since I saw the zims iron maiden top, I've been thinking of cutting the sides off of my hard top and doing something with it. during the summer I almost always have to have my soft top in safari configuration anyway, but I hate how loud it is when the wind gets it vibrating.

of course I also have some oil leaks to fix, so we'll just have to see what strikes my fancy first.

Man, I might not know much about this truck stuff, but I can see stuff like that on a house from down the street and around the corner. :haha:

Used a lot of roofing nail in my days. Never aluminum though.. When I did a lot of this stuff, I was in Florida after the Hurricane. We ended up using a Senco utility stapler, shooting the 2" staples. If you jammed the guns safety, held the perfect upward angle, you could run down the planks and shoot the run on like lightning. If you were good, there was just enough room to were the vinyl would just hang there. Too tight and a little heat and you have a mess.

Good job on the aluminum nails. All of that .019 aluminum coil stock doesn't like anything but those nails.

I never tried staples when I was hanging it for my job (20 yrs ago). sounds like a lot faster though, if you do it right.

truck and garage are looking great Ash...still have a love for the first gens.

hey zim, since you're paying attention, think you could grab me a couple of close up shots of the cuts around your top? specifically around the back. I'm pretty sure I'm going to try and copy what you did, or close to it. :thumb:

Its uneven cuts right now...I need to finish that thing up someday...

I'll try to get some tonight after work :waytogo:

cool, thanks man! thats what I needed.

I think I can get to that point easy enough, but I have some ideas about maybe being able to attach some soft sides if I need to button it up more. who knows though. I'll half to pick ryokens brain about some fiberglass work if I decide to get fancy.

part of my plan is to put a drip rail on, finish off the open ends, and straighten it up, then refinish it.

I'm just trying to get it done to run the dunes next weekend!

I hear ya! I've been watching your thread too. :D

GL, and take lots of pics out there!

:waytogo:the hard part is getting others to take pics of the Maiden out there...
I still gotta figure out how to edit my GoPro so I can upload the videos..

so, it looks like my next project is going to be fixing the last one. /sigh

took my blazer up over guardsman pass this weekend. it ran great, except for the power steering pump. it was whining like a bitch the entire time! it was so loud that it was embarrassing whenever anyone passed the truck. I felt like yelling "I swear it's not a piece of sheit!!" and hanging my head. :(

it seems like it's plenty full of fluid, so either I've got a bad pump, or I need to get one with a remote reservoir so I can keep more fluid in it. I'm leaning towards a bad pump since Z has pretty much the same setup without issue, but I might just get a remote reservoir while I'm at it just in case.

"I swear it's not a piece of sheit!!" and hanging my head.

I say the same thing about my paint job:haha:
I'd run a reservoir, just my .02.
Mine is Custom, some fine individual brazed and Jb welded a neck on mine were the fill cap would be and ran a hose up to a reservoir with a cap. Its worked grate for who knows how many years but it looks like crap and I keep waiting for it to brake.

dammit! my hydroboost is leaking. :(

it's leaking out from between the booster and the MC. at first I thought it was the MC, but I pulled it and worked it quite a bit, and no fluid. I worked the booster a few times without the MC on it and it didn't seem to leak, but there was fluid in there. after cleaning it all up, bolting everything back together and taking it for a drive, it was obviously leaking. it must leak only under load. grrrr

I'm looking into a hydroboost rebuild kit clicky, but I'm a bit worried that I've put something together wrong. I don't think it leaked when I first put it in. :dunno:
I'm using a '72 3/4 ton MC so I guess it's possible there is some compatibility issue. I checked the throw distance of this MC against one that came with a hydroboost and I'm pretty sure they are the same (within an 1/8th inch or so anyway) and I can't think of anything else that would have any effect.

maybe I just got unlucky, but now I'm nervous.
