understandably so Chris....it will stay!
Chris did you say the factory intercooler will fit in our front ends when turned upside down?
I was wondering what others have done to package the front end stuff behind the grille. such as:

1) Fan...stock Cummins or other?
2) Shroud...depending on fan used I guess?
3) Radiator...GM type or make use of the Dodge unit?
4) Intercooler
5) Oil cooler(s)
6) A/C condensor...I will eventually be using a Vintage Air unit or similar. What have you used?

I'm using a 94-02 Dodge intercooler, it fits nicely around the bigger GM radiator mounted upside down. Some of the core support did have to be trimmed.

I would highly recommend the stock fan, they move a ton of air and it fits, barely.

hahaha, good Chris...my donor is a 98, so should be good there then...the fan, shroud and intercooler are all in great shape....I have a decent radiator in the CC now, I'll get that cleaned up in and out and try that.

finally got the 6BT ready to come out...leaving the trans hooked up to the engine block.

Can this be pulled out together with the body on? (everything in front of the engine is removed) I lift it as much as I can, it hits the overhanging cowl and the oil pan don't clear the engine crossmember.
Do I need to take off the valve cover on the rear cyl off (will it make a difference?), or just cut the crossmember out (its going to scrap anyway)

My donor was a 2wd truck, but I did leave the trans on and engine completely in tact, I ended up taking out the front body mount bolts and jacking the cab up in the front a few inches which gave me enough to get the combo out.

Dave, I'm using the dodge intercooler, radiator and fan shroud (with both fluid tanks) but "grafted" in a set of windstar fans instead of the stock mech fan. I have seen other 12v swaps with the same setup with the shroud, rad, and intercooler done on our rigs and it seemed to fit decent, you do have to make mount tabs for the radiator. One of the things I like about it is off the shelf hoses will work and I'm using "factory" cooling parts, which seem more then up to the task of cooling these engines.

great input Josh....much appreciated....this frame is so nice ECSB 2WD...I hate to cut it up, thinking someone might be able to straighten it (front pass pushed in and back a few inches each direction)
How many body bolts, 6? to do the bodylift enough to get the engine/trans out?

had to jack the body up about 4", then it came right out!

I had this one set on 2000lbs....it was taking some effort to pump the jack!
Figure about 1500lbs there?

I used a floor jack to jack up each side of the body, then put a 4x4 under the front body mounts....it was so nice to have the body bolts just spin right out, no rust, no fighting them, just a pull of the trigger on the impact, and zip, outta there!

DOH! I knew that. Should make a really nice tow rig.

Yes, that's my plan, Cummins FTW!
I love the power of the 461 in the Maiden, and don't think I will ever change that!!
Not once have I said, "gee I wish I wouldn't have put a BB in this" :pimp:

Unless I missed something. I didn't think the maiden had anything to do with this thread... (besides getting towed)

Right Adam...amazing how this overall offroading snowball continues to grow!

Dave hurry up and get BART in the garage. The snow is going to start soon...:whistle:
BART got put inside yesterday Jess, I knew it was going to get crappy this week, (raining and 42 right now) and its been dry the last couple days, so now it has a bed full of tires...

Right Jess....the pictured garage (attached to the house) is 28' deep, with the shelving unit on the back wall (2' deep) I still have about 4' between the truck and the garage door.

The shop (as I call it) is only 24' deep x 32' wide...the biggest the township would let me build it in front of the house....It has one stall 14' wide for the Vette and HD storage (also use it as a paint booth) the other stall is 18' wide that is the shop...rather small, but its got heat and A/C!

My layout:
I can't believe there isn't any vehicles sitting outside???
