Eric, remember the stories we were coming up with while in the parking lot that night....lol! Poor Adam!
So I'm thinking the lift will help with clearance at the trans tunnel and floor. I think this 2wd tunnel is lower than a 4wd?
I basically just dropped it on the chassis today. I haven't checked underneath for clearance around the trans yet. I was up late enough getting to this point and now I'm off to work again.

Lol funny stuff we had everyone thinking all sorts of stuff. Lol funny.

Yah 2wd tunnel is lower than the 4wd. Looking awesome.

Thing is gonna be insane when your done for sure.

That was a fun night Zim. I was so worried I had blown that motor.

Hooking the gooseneck to Penny and making everyone think I had just disappeared was a good time lol

That was it, the pics of a gooseneck in a Tahoe were too much....it got some responses though didn't it....wahahaaaa!

Are you going to use a gooseneck hitch?

Martin
Nope, eventually a slide-in camper.

Right on! That will look great!

I was thinking you were going to get it running first then blow it apart again to make it pretty. Glad you are doing it all at once. Going to be tits Dave!

Going for mechanical stuff right now Dean...reliability is a high priority for this stage. New trans and rear axle with what appears to be a sound 6BT in place, along with rebuilt suspension, steering and brake systems. And of course while its all apart, MAW make it somewhat pretty and protect as much as possible from future aging! I wish is was that easy for me! I'll drive it like this for a while, letting the chassis/drivetrain prove itself, then the body will be the next stage, probably in a couple years....it will get blown apart again at that time for paint and interior.

Doing the same thing Dave. Got most of the front frame brackets stripped today. Should finish the rear tomorrow.
Excellent Jesse. you got a thread going for your blazer build?

Did you wind up having any clearance issues with the cross member & oil pan? Any mods required?
I will scallop that angled front crossmember to allow a bit more clearance for the balancer...here is how it is right now

...some hack on FB assured me I needed to move the engine 2" forward or it wouldnt fit...problem is I think most people are used to doing this swap on a 4wd chassis not a 2wd chassis.
I do still have to deal with the low mounted A/C compressor on the pass side, as it sits right where the framerail is. There is a high mounted alternative the big trucks use, but the bracketry is expensive and hard to find...I will investigate this further in short order....ideas welcome.

nope, I can fit my hand between them, almost...this is using autoworld mounts, which were highly recommended by Luke (Demon44)

Right, the 2wd has that huge crossmember that lower a arms bolt to and also has pockets for the upper coil springs to seat into.
First pic is from rear pass side of engine, 2nd is from pass side front.
It's over 1" of clearance under the pan.

I have a large semi truck wrecking yard semi local. 2 hours away. If you need me to find brackets for ya.
Hey, I am pretty sure I know that wrecking yard and I drive by it every day. There is also Rocky Mtn Truck Parts in Ogden, Utah. And also Vriens Truck Parts in SLC. I can go searching for you if you need. I work on semis and know exactly what you are talking about. I believe they used them on Ford L8000 and stuff but I'm sure Freightliner and others used the same one also. My brother in law has an '89 F350 with the high mount compressor setup but his may be a fabricated bracket.

Should be plenty of room for the pan. Powerstrokes and stuff don't have more than an inch of room I think. Sucks if you ever need to pull the pan though cuz the engine will have to come out.
