What's the story on all the cars Rick took you to see?

Damn, no Antique Archaeology celebrity sightings?

Matt, it was a great trip, always fun to hang out with Kert at the shop! Playing trains aint so bad either! haha!

Adam, lets go on your wallet next time, and I'm in!

Dean it does look great...even got a few lessons while watching Kert weld aluminum (leave it to the pros!!)

AJ, the celebs must be in stardom now....probably can't be bothered with trivial store matters anymore?
Although the chick at the store was very easy on the eyes, specially when she walked up the stairs to get t shirts!

the cars are all at a local dealership. theres always some NICE things there. They want a premium for sure. but its fun to look. that gray and red 1/2 ton squarebody is $14,995:eek1:

as for the celebs, the fat dude with the beard from the show is a d1ck. other dudes cool I hear, and the chick from the show.

ordered some rivnuts for attaching the floor to the .120wall floor framing crossmembers...these things look slick...my buddy was telling me about them. supposed to hold 80ft lbs of torque.

A video of them in service...I will be using a manual tool for install, but the pneumatic is the cats ass for installing them.

Wow seems like I would have run into these before now in my life....My buddy Tony that traveled with me to Kerts told me about them, and they seem perfect for attaching the removeable floor to the framing!

thanks Josh, I'll check out your thread and learn somemore!

I used my DIY method today of setting them without a tool like I posted on FB yesterday. Yesterday's experiment worked great on a scrap piece but today it didn't work so well on the real job. Let me know how your setter works, I'll probably buy one shortly.

they should ship Monday, now that I've seen the tool shed thread on them, I'm glad I'm not into a heavy duty use for them....the floor pan bolts will be 1/4-20 stainless button head, only need to hold the floor in place, I was wondering if in fact these might slip, if a star washer under the head would be a good idea?

after seeing the nice job Ashman did on his topper, I'm anxious to find a way to get some foul weather sides on my safari top. I like having the top on for sunny days, or rainy days it provides some protection, but having drop down sides and rear cover would be nice as well.

The present state of the safari top:

and the idea for covering the sides and rear...

It will be my Dad's 82nd birthday Monday, and he is coming out to spend the morning/early afternoon with me working on the Maiden...then I'm taking him to the local cafe' for a lunch!
I'll snap a few pics of Pop in action.
Still so lucky to have him able and willing to come hang out with me!

He's been there since the beginning of this build and gets quite a kick out of seeing it, working on it, being a part of it....I think some will remember his overseeing the work getting done on the build weekend as well....

Your dad seems like a real cool guy from the time I've met him.

Well, now that we are back in business with the thread...:D

Kerts' parts...two fire ext. mounts, battery mounting parts, floorpan, fuel filler door, fuel tank, and some mounting tabs/thick washers.

Pop came over today on his 82nd bday to hangout, we worked on getting the fuel tank mounted...he ground a little off the tank flange to give a little more room in the front corner....he got bit by the flapdisc....I say what happened Pop....he says the dam thing bit me...I get a laugh outta him still, he has alot of the old guy sayings in him.
We got the tank pretty squared away, tacked the frame mounting flanges in place and checked clearances, need to tweak them a bit then weld em in place.

He was telling me today about his first m/c...he was in the Air Force in Roswell, NM...a couple years after the alien thing happened, which he said he never heard anything about it while he was there. He makes some local friends and their son was going into the Army and is looking to sell his 48 flathead HD....he rode it quite a bit while he was in NM, but sold it before being stationed in Bangor ME.
