Jeep parts Heath....um ok:doah:, :DI guess they are in the same family tree now, but the M37's were a workhorse truck back in their day, like a civvy Powerwagon, just plain ole cool.

I think the M37s are cool Dave, I am not saying that. But if you put the headlights in the middle they would look like a Jeep. Except the Jeeps are more flatfender. Do you have a tubing roller to make the tubes curved, instead of flat and then bent?

I guess I just like the Chevy lines, and adding the curved fenders sticking out would make a weird combination. I think they are both cool, but not together. I like ice cream, and I like ketchup, but I don't like ketchup on my ice cream. :)

I'm not gonna worry about the fenders when I narrow the front this winter. Oh man do I have plans :) def gonna keep myself busy. Taking 22" out of the middle of the frame, bob and dovetail the bed. And a bunch of tube work. There really aren't any fender laws in the mitten so I wouldn't worry about it.

Well I'll have to see it as it comes together...thats a ways off for sure, but it wouldn't be the first time I've scrapped an idea.

Don't let me stop you, it's not my truck, and it's mostly a cosmetic decision. If everyone built the same thing, it would be boring. Your truck definitely won't be boring though, even without the fenders.

Although if you put them on there it might start looking like a Jeepster!:flipoff11::waytogo:

Heath your an ass, but in the funniest way....:thumb:

totally off topic but dave you coming out to daryls brothers bog at his dads(cowboy) on oct 9th? I'll be there

Its at his dads aka Cowboys place, its his brother thats organizing the thing and his buddies with 62" tractor tires. I guess they are making a baby pit for people with less than 44's which I am going to run in.

I'm working that weekend Jess, its by the airport right? Maybe I could see about coming in a little late that day.....
That would be like a 2.5 hour drive to work for me. I'm still in the Jeepster with 31's....arghhh, not much for a mud pit with that setup. Trucked over there once, after running the Mounds, but Daryl couldn't make it that day, so I don't know what there is to run the Jeepster on?????
And I got that rim for ya if you still want it, if not I can use it in a future project.

Actually I've been to his Dads out by the airport, I think thats the place.

You were supposed to look at the grin smiley after that Zim

...it was a joke, OK, a lame joke.

Yeah OK, got it now, computer tard at the controls here.

:sign7:and this sign should say, I am stupid.:haha:

After seeing the # of beadlock equipped rigs in Moab, and plenty without them too, I wonder if I need to pursue a beadlock wheel, or at least a wheel with more lip....my 16.5 aluminum rims don't have much of a lip, and running 5# on rocks could pose a problem...

Are these going to be ok on the big rocks and running some gulleys (which looked to be heavy on the sidewall loading) at 5# or so?
Should I look into a different set of rims (and tires?)????

yah its by the airport.

I'm out on that one, my kids housewarming party is that day, and they WANT me to be there...:waytogo:
Besides I only got the Jeepster to run right now, and 3' of mud and 31" tires aint gonna do much.

The only way to run 16.5 is with bead-locks. That is one reason why Hummer rims are so popular. 16.5 on a regular rim are notorious for busting a bead loose at low psi. At 5 psi, you may even bust a bead just sitting still! No joke.

i would sell those rims and pick up some 8 or 12 bolt for cheap. good insurance to have

Ya with 16.5's airing down at all is risky. I blew a bead on my Crew cab moving it into the driveway once to put air in a low tire. If you already have 16.5 tires I'd look for some H1 wheels, or sell the combo you have and go with some 17's you could add DIY beadlocks down the road if desired.

I wheel with a lot of guys with 15's 16's and 17's that run 8-12 psi all day without issues. Just have to watch for logs and roots up here. They can pop a bead off real easy.

Let me play devils advocate here for a bit, I ran 16.5s for a while on a chrome mod regularly aired down to 10 psi, never had a problem, even had one down to around 6 a couple times. They did burp air quite a bit and I would occasionally use a buddys CO2 tank to add air to them but the 16.5s didn't not have major problems for me.

On your truck Dave a full bodied blazer with tube work and armor etc it will be heavy so airing down to 10 or 12 might be enough. The only caveat we have here is the fact that our rims are totally different.

In addition to that I would not do a set of weld on beadlocks again. They would take some modifications to fit my liking. I though have some very set ideas on what I like and what I don't.

In all reality if you want to keep the 16.5s I would go the route most have suggested here and do some H1s, you probably close to 200 a rim once you get them shipped and new o rings and inserts.

So to beadlock or not. Well you run the dunes so I say yes, but it should be very very low on the priority list

Zim,

If you want to preserve the classic look by using those aluminum wheels, consider an internal beadlocking system like TireLoc, Staun, etc.

It's a double-beadlock (you'll protect both the inner and outer bead) and the only downside is that you'll have to drill a second valvestem hole to air up the beadlock system. They work slick. I had the TireLocs on my truck for a few years and will probably re-use them if/when I ever get my truck build that far along.

The nice thing is that you can wait until the very end of your build to decide on this one. 16.5s are really easy to unmount by yourself in your own garage so this can be one of thoes "impulse purchases" that you install some spare evening.
