That's good to hear, but if the axle drops, say hanging in the air, is there a chance the shackle could reverse?
Thanks.

I would totally drive that around the yard as-is. :D

:usaflag:

OK Man, now you got me thinking....hook up the XJ shaft to the box, slap a pipe on it for leverage, hook it up to the lawn tractor and away we go...:haha:

The shackle is just a pivot point. Worst case you will limit your stretch.

Do it and take pics or video :D

This pic shows what I'm trying to explain....if the tire is hanging in the air, and the shackle is straight, would/could it try to angle the wrong way when weight is put back on the spring?

Sorry, I wasn't clear (I did understand the question) . I don't think the shackle can reverse (except under droop). When the springs start to compress after a droop, the spring can only lengthen which will push the shackle to the rear (hinge). The lengthening of the spring will force the shackle to the back (reversing the shackle could only be caused by shortening the springs, not lengthening). It's physically impossible for the shackle to end up on the wrong side of vertical when the spring compresses.

Adding the body will hopefully put that shackle angle back some more. IYou won't really know until the springs are fully weighted.

OH, and a stick on Mirror, with a flat mounting plate huh Eric?:haha:

Everyones a comedian:whistle:

The shackle can invert. Allthough I have only ever inverted my shackles on Horton once and I was really stretched out, not something you are going to have worry about

The rear shackle angle should end up just fine Dave. I wouldn't worry too much about it now

One thing you may want to consider though is moving that front shackle hanger forward some. With just normal lift springs the front shackle ends up being almost straight up and down and that limits droop. I think 3/4 of an inch is what I came up with once but if you search there are some who have done it before. It would be way easy to move right now. Much harder to move later and the extra droop you get will be worth it. It doesn't really change much just the angle of the shackle so no rethinking is needed :D

That was somewhat funny at the time....you have to admit. At least you didn't get the mirror glass in your eyes.:eek1:

Thats what I was wondering Eric, I'll have to check em out when I cycle the suspension like we talked about. And dam, I just put new shackle hangers in for the front.

A new chariot for the Iron Maiden:

this should get me to Moab without having to worry about overloading my present car hauler, or spending $1000+ for heavier axles, and tires/wheels.

I should be able to pay for more than 1/2 of this one by selling my other trailer. That would make it about a wash for putting new 5200# axles, tires and wheels on my other trailer.

Got it for 3200+tax+license.

So I take it the vette is back on the road pretty much?????????

Nice trailer Dave, so nice to have something you don't have to worry about.

Now on go on to the next post on my the new posts, and I see you DO have it on the road man, awesome!

Pretty much Eric...and we'll see what spring holds in MI.

I'm glad I went this route on the trailer too, One less potential problem for the Moab trip, and even closer hauls. This load will be all my truck wants to pull I can feel that.

there is sexy, and then there is Dead sexy...:woot:

Rene

It was funny, I had it running in the driveway taking that video, and my neighbor's oldest daughter (hs senior) and one of her friends came over to look at it. They heard it running, and her friend said she had to see what it was. She was in awe seeing it, and hearing it, she even asked if she could touch it....I said get in it and rev the engine...her jaw dropped, and she looked at me and said "really?" Then she looked at the Blazer frame in the shop, and said do you want to adopt me?:haha:
I just said, I don't even want a dog right now let alone a teenage girl:D

Silly little girls.

she asked if she could touch it...

nice thing about high school girls is...I get older, they stay the same age...
