That sounds like a great friendship/relationship, treasure it.

I got some miscellaneous stuff done tonight, and will start on the boxing Wed.

Cut off the upper front shock mounts, as we will be making hoops off the engine cage:

Got the first front piece molded to the frame and welded in, leaving room for steering box access:

Got to the second piece and it covers the spring eye mount. Well Eric and I have discussed this a bunch and decided to leave this piece just tacked in place in case we needed to move the Spring eye mount. As I was trying to decide how to tack such a long piece in, and then have to weld it in later while everything was in the frame I decided NOW is a good time to move it to a more optimal location forward to increase the shackle angle:

And those trinkets of items sucked up my 4 hours in the shop today.

Dave I hear yah as you can track it with my thread as well. I was gonna suggest that you leave that open, but as always you are already a few steps ahead.

I have been tracking your thread Jess, your making great progress man.

I'm talking with Eric tonight to confirm how much, but I'm thinking about an inch forward. With the weight out of the truck the shackle is leaning forward at the bottom, but only about an inch, so making it straight while empty should put it about 1.5-2" back when fully loaded...should be pretty good at that.

Hey Chuli- you must be on the eastern side huh?
Hey Eric is coming and he's 1500mi.....but then he's in it for the free travel.:haha:

He made me a generous offer I couldn't refuse, basically I'm getting him here for the week, and he's offered his help with as much as we can get done, but I really wanted help because of my lack of experience at cage/slider/suspension/etc etc etc.

After talking with the chief engineer on this thing, we've decided moving the Spring eye mount forward 1.5-1.75" would work great....Eric has the same springs and comparable weight on his K5, and guestimates this would work out pretty good, so thats next before more boxing.
Today I wasted most of the day getting an MRI on my shoulder....stay tuned Rene':dunno:
Those fackin tubes they put you in suck. Felt like a sardine in there, and my shoulder hurt worse than it did before I went in there. Try staying perfectly still for 40 minutes under ideal conditions, let alone being crammed in one of those.:doah:

i'm a marine mechanic, i like the MRI tube... :haha:

you HAVE to be anti-cluastrophobic to do my job.. :screwy:

I've said it out loud a few times to myself when buried in some hole in a boat,

"I'd hate to be the paramedic that has to get my body out...":grind::weld::grind::hack::yikes::grind:

keep up the diligence! :bow::waytogo:

Thanks...I'm taking off a little early from work tonight to get dirty again.

I might have missed it, but are you using the FUSH with regualar length front springs (46") or are you doing a 52/56" swap?

If stock length, what length shackle are you going to run?

Sucks with the shoulder, hope it can feel better for you.

I hope I didn`t offend anybody with the payed trip coment, just thought it was cool that you would do that , and your friend is willing to come help you with your blazer for that long of a time. And with all the other guys coming over you all should get alot done.

GREAT work keep it up!:waytogo:

Here's the new angle moved 1.5" forward. The mounting is level with the previous mount:

Beveled the edge of a washer to fill the hole:

Using stock length 6" lift Superlift softride springs, but really wanted to get this angle more acceptable than staight as it was looking like it would end up. May go to a 52 or 56 in the future though...perhaps coils and links:dunno:

The shoulder is mostly a pain trying to sleep....just can't get comfortable for long without it waking me up...that really is the worst part. I've had trouble with it for years, but it has flared up in the last year to this point, and I have to do something about it, because I'm taking Aleve way more than I should to deal with it. Another suck part about it is lifting. I just don't have the strength to do it in that arm anymore because of the pain......alright whining time is over, time to move on.

Nobody is offended by your comments. As I said, Eric made me this offer at Moab, that if I could get it ready to bring this year he could help with the cage/boatsides/rocksliders/etc. if I got him here...he is just getting his own business off the ground so the timing is right for this to happen. I just don't have the confidence and experience in those things to feel comfortable trying to get so much done in a short amount of time....I could literally spend many weeks trying to get done what hopefully we can knock out in a week with him here to guide things.
I can't believe the amount of help offered by members here. This should be an epic build day/week coming up in April.:waytogo:
