Hey Jess, I did buy an S&W cage. It is the 10pt. cage with the family bar extensions too. It is 1.75 DOM. Eric is coming in early April, I think the 6th to 12th. We should be able to work on it Thurs thru Mon. We will primarily be setting suspension up, and working on tubing, cage and sliders stuff.
I have a bender from Speedway, with 1.75 and 1.25 dies. Haven't tried it yet, but I thought it would work for what we will need to do on this project, and maybe play around with some other things as well, but if you want to bring that 105 over it would be welcome I'm sure. Hit me up again sometime in late Mar, I'll have a better plan in place by then for sure.

smells like progress:D

At a snails pace compared to you though....:doah:

Worked on more exhaust stuff...building brackets, checking clearance, rebuilding brackets, cutting more pipe, weld this, weld that, cut apart weld to change....my life as a fabricator:rolleyes:

Got a pile of parts:

what do you plan on doing for gasket? I would keep the same design, just drill the holes for a standard 3 bolt header flange so you can find easily replaceable gaskets.

Looking at my L&L collector and reducer flanges kinda put that idea my head Jess....4 bolt was just what came together as I was thinking about it, didn't really consider the 3 bolt layout. I think the opening in a standard header gasket would be too big anyway.
I got some gasket material from work to make some with.

Outstanding work you are doing!:waytogo:
Ordanary nothing special isn`t that what you said at the begining of your build!! I don`t think it is.

Your right Shawn, I know stainless grows more than carbon steel, not sure why, but our stainless lines at work (1"-3" diameter) can grow as much as 1" in 10' when they are about 125*C. compared to -5 to 0*C.
I will have a section of about 5' that will be rigidly mounted in the middle of the exhaust system. The headers will go almost immediately into the flex pipes, and after the mufflers piping will be more soft mounted as it goes outside of the framerail.

that is a sweet hanger setup on the pic. looks like a streetrod?

Yeah, nothing earth shattering, thats what I was thinking Max (I'm not anywhere near that category)but I have spread my wings a little....of course I've NEVER delved into something to this extent of modification before. Most of my wrenching has been replacement or slight modification of stock type parts, mostly so I didn't screw something up....This is pretty new ground for me, but I'm diggin' it!

Maybe not earth shattering, but still... very nice work and not the typical lift one tons and good to go type stuff... not saying there is anything wrong with that," because that is what I would do" but yours is not the ordinary.:thumb:

You can buy dead soft copper in sheets to do the flange gaskets with.

I was hoping to meet some of the Michigan ck5 contingent when I am up there for sure

Hey Jess Daves bender should work for what we need, I will know as soon as I see everything if we need yours. We are only adding a couple pieces in all reality

Hmmmm, perhaps a Saturday thrash for MI/IN/IL meet and greet?
And Chicago style deep dish stuffed pizza too?

I have some Gore-tex gaskets. They have a steel core, with a PTFE outer membrane. They are supposed to withstand constant use at 750*F @ 1000psi. Hopefully that'll git-r-done.

Awesome let me know I'll pick up daryl and well head out!

OK Jess, maybe I'll throw up a thread in the lounge/midwest section soon.

When will this gathering be? Ought to have some vacation by then. Might be able to work something out.

It will be the 9th of April....Thread forthcoming sometime soon....

Played around more with the exhaust pieces today. Got the 2 flexpipes and made up more brackets, gaskets, and stuff.

This is what my pieces start out like, hack em out of some flat stock, then rough cut em in with the Sawzall, then use the belt sander to finish them to drawing.

I got the two saddles made that bolt to the framerail on the pass side. I think this should work good.

I fly in on the 5th and out on the 12th, Dave and I will be putting in some long hours on this thing but a thrash fest meet and greet on the 9th would be awesome.
