An extra set of Ujoint girdle caps I had laying around :D
They hold it firmly in place along with the cut out rectangle in the frame, that the base of the valve sits in!

that's why i asked, i thought i recognized em... :haha:
i actually have a 20 yr old brand new set of gold Moroso ones downstairs kicking around the dungeon, for what joint i have no clue... :doah:

Hmm, where did you get those, I have been wanting a pair for the 14BFF since those are straps but I haven't been able to find them.

Guys I mis-spoke, my driveshaft for the Vette is 1330's I don't know if the caps are the same on a 1330 & 1350 or not, but Moroso sells these, and Summit carries them.
Bad thing is I don't think they tell what size caps they fit. I can look em up to see what I bought.

EDIT:

the 1330 is 1-1/16" cap, the 1350 is 1-3/16" cap....sorry for the confusion, my rear halfshafts have the 1350's....the driveshaft has the 1330's

1330 is the same width as a 1350, but the daimeter of the caps is not the same, so they wouldn't work.

Keep all your old stuff too huh Paul?
I keep finding crap I don't know what it went to or why I bought it:dunno:

Heath, they only have them listed by application, not size of the ujoints.... I don't know if a 1350 size is out there or not...seems like with all the 1350 drag driveshafts, there would be somewhere.

haha, just noticed cupholderpaluzaa in the tags....

I got a few electical clamps today, maybe i"ll use those instead of the ujoint caps, have to try them out tomorrow. Going to try and wrap up any mods/additions needed to the frame with the drivetrain in it by Sat. Then its time to get NEKKID.

The list as of today.
Notice the build week items, hopefully I'll get all above that done before then.

Welcome aboard, I think the next month will get pretty busy.:waytogo:

Cool man, looks great, when you said on the first page how you didnt need to worry about cosmetics and such, i thought you were just gonna throw something together haha, but its quite the opposite, and I LOVE IT!!!:thumb:

Dave do you plan on bracing the frame around the steering box before you box it?

I have the ORD brace and plate kit on it Jess, and will work the boxing around those items.

Made some templates for Kert to work off of for my Rear Gauntlet bumper....

I wasn't real happy with the mounting of the ball valve, so I tried these conduit clamps instead....I think I'll go with these.

Started taking apart the brake lines, and fuel lines for start of dis-assembly today....my buddy suggested plugging lines with an earplug...works good!

More dis-assembly planned for tomorrow.

Eric and I will be working on it from Wed to Mon.
The plan is to build up the cage, rock sliders, boatside, engine compartment cage, shock hoops, bumpstops and mounting, and whatever else come along to complete those items. Also high priority is figuring both axle pinion angles so I can complete the welding on the rear and make any necessary adjustments to the front.
Also get the rear Gauntlet bumper mounted!!!!!!!!

Wrenching items will be whatever is on my build list to complete, from where I'm at on the list at the time. So whatever someone feels comfortable working on, but basically I'm here right now:

Locktite everything doubler related.

Good list.

Good list.
I find it easier for me to remember things when I write em down. Then I find myself reprioritizing things as I go along. I've dropped a few items, and I've moved many things around more than once too. Although it may have some missed items, Its a good start I think.

I should have the frame pretty well stripped out tomorrow, then starting at the top of the list posted on this page. A few misc. items then boxing coming up next week.

I got the radiator support, engine/trans/doubler out today and started on a few frame mods that need repair/modification before boxing. Put to the side for now.

One mod was to make a little more clearance around the L&L's:

Ironmaiden143.jpg

Another was to make a clean opening in the frame for the fuel line to come through:

Ironmaiden146.jpg

I'lll get this welded in tomorrow, and start sandblasting the frame hopefully
Its supposed to be up to low-mid 40's and sunny....NICE

Just an FYI pic of the doubler cradle installed:

Man thats a long list for build week

Sure will be fun to hammer down on something again.

Its looking awesome Dave. Glad to see progress

It is a wish list of course....we sure don't want to run out of things to do:haha:

I figure by putting up plenty to do people can pick and choose what they want to work on....if anything.

Oh and don't forget your the team leader!
I'll try to make sure we have everything we need to accomplish whatever is on that list.
Can you think of anything we need?
