Ha ha that's funny! It's a boss hoss!

Progress is looking good Zim and I look forward to seeing the body on for the final time (this go round).

And it's Iron Maiden, doesn't it need to be flat black? Or that's too boring?

I'm not a big fan of flat black...to overdone in the hotrod world I think.
Keeping with the Iron theme, is what got me going with the red oxide primer look...but in a color, what comes close is Firethorn Red from the 70's, with a Matte finish (not sure bout that either) that would be more with the steel/Iron theme.

What ever color you can fix easy

Nice one Keith, your right about that too!

Did Eric send you a PM about BB11 trails and what you want to run if not figure it out and let me know. Eric may be just riding with me or I may be towing him down not sure on either yet.

Flat black sucks if you want to keep it looking nice, it fades really quickly, and seems to be somewhat porus so is always just looks dirty.

That was my experience.

that platinum color would look slick with your rust cage. I think any color that was metal (steel grey perhaps) would fit with your theme, and would tie in well with your 'rusty' cage.

He did Keith, but I'm a little on the reserved side, mostly due to inexperience in the big rocks, a new truck with no seat time, and not really knowing what trails I should go on....SO we need to discuss it more, perhaps I need to give him a call.

Yeah, I just don't care for it enough to go for it on this truck.

I did get a visit from Fred-ex and UPS today:

pushloc hose and fitting assembled....Heath it really is easy to do.
run the hose under hot water, put some soap on the fitting, and push!
The pushlocs will be used for engine and trans coolers.

That hose looks nothing like the hose I used. I had Fragola black braided hose, and it was NOT easy. In the beginning when I was just using hot water, it was pretty much impossible. Then after several failed attemps, it was more like, put oil all over the fitting which is held in the jawhorse(I have no vice:frown1:) so you can push the hose with both hands with all your strength, soak the hose in boiling water for 5 minutes to even have a prayer, then pull it out and immediately try to force it on. After you get it 3/4 of the way and the hose is now stuck there, and your fingers are sore and red even though you have leather gloves on from the pain before, then start cussing and cut it off without damaging the fitting and start over. About half the time you could get it all the way on. Nothing like you are desribing, that sounds lovely. But if it goes on that easy, it also makes me wonder how good it really is.

Nice pile of parts by the way, fancy wheel DUDE!

it ALL depends on the pushlok manufacturer and what hose you use... I've literally done thousands of hoses and fittings on the boats... heck a full oil exchange system can be upwards of 25 hose ends..

anyway, pretty sure Parker is the originator of the pushlok fitting... they have the yellow hose stops.. the different manny's sometimes have slightly different configs on their barbs....

we use their blue hose for most things and it works very very well... usually they don't fight ya too bad.. but if ya don't get the hose warm enough and your installing in a tough spot, meaning buried in a bilge, not at your workbench, they CAN be a bear...

strictly heat gun for us.. I use oil, soap or 303 for lube depending on app..

oh, just a reminder not to forget doing Eddie graphics at some point when choosing a color Dave... ;)

I tried to pull the hose off today from the fitting and i would'nt budge, I feel pretty good about em, as I know a few guys who have used the Gates Hose and the Jegs fittings. And I like the red hose/black fitting combo too.
So I don't see the pressure exceeding 100# at any time for these applications, that's why I went with the pushlocs.
The hose is rated for 300*.

And thanks for the reminder of Eddie, Paul, I was considering going with the Iron Maiden script on the side of the box, and placement of Eddie in a few other places.I had Scott make me a few decals of the trooper cover,

How much was that hose per foot?

I hope to do a aux. trans filter, and an aux. cooler sometime this summer and wasnt sure what to plumb it with.

Dave that pic of you "Supposedly" holding the bars of a boss hoss looks more like you REALLY like that mondo motor:whistle:. :haha:

And I'm liking the silver/ gunmetal grey look. DA the whole thing and clearcoat bare steel:D

I got it through Jegs, and it was $60/25'

That's my buddy up there....but HD did a paint job a few years back that had a cut out in the paint that looked like it was raw steel w/ like 80grit grinder marks in it. Always thought that was cool.

Look closely at the Silver paint on this bike for an example:

But remember this, I'm not going for a high dollar look here, I realize what this truck is, and what it might become so dumping a bunch of time and money into body and paint isn't the plan right now. If I decide to go that route in the future, the rear half of the truck will be rebuilt and new floors too. Then it would be worth putting more effort into a nice body/paint job.

just give it a douche in some single stage... I could mix you up a badarse peuter-grayish color... that little tint of copperish orange in the gray would match great with the cage..

obviously a metallic would be cool, but as I've mentioned in the past, not advisable in single, plus the coin of it... but a solid could still look great..

Ive seen a few of the HD's with that paint treatment, to me it sure looks like bare metal under the clear.

Almost reminds me of the engine turned metal.

Thats why I said sand it down and clear it:D Scratches wont show up till they rust and it cant get any easier to color match for repair, just sand and clear again:haha: who cares if it will expose welds and repairs. It'll add to the look:thumb:

Pewter sounds good too Paul, do you have a color chip?
Or do you have a color mix # for the Single stage Nason? I could get it mixed at the local Napa store!

Yeah, I like the look, but unfortunately I know there will be a sh!tload of crap in them back quarters to smooth em out....Next time around they'll get replaced!
I sure like the idea though Rick

Well we got the body on the dolly loaded on the trailer last night, that was fun with 4 casters that are all swivel. I just delivered it to the body shop for a blasting, straightening and smoothing out of the body parts, and I'll get it back in a first coat of filler primer, hopefully in 2-3 weeks.
