I just assumed you meant sand drags..:doah:

Got any pics, I might look em up?
Are they in the Jegs All Stars?

Folk Racing/Folk Race Cars, which is Ron (my uncle), Brian and Nick (cousins), my aunt Vicky will probably be there too. They just finished the Vette, it's in the stock class, which means stock compression, stock lift cam, max .030" overbore, with stock heads, stock throttle body, etc. But don't think it will be boring, it'll probably leave wheels up and be one of the fastest in the nation in that class. The cobalt doesn't have the same rules but does have a stock type LS engine with the stock throttle body.

The usually each run a dragster in addition to the door cars but some of the dragsters got burnt to a crisp in this horrible accident...(watch the aftermath video, one of the worst accidents I have ever seen).

Both cars probably have a lot more stickers on them now for contingencies...

HOLY CRAP heath. That sucks, I hope their insurance covers that. Looks like your family is all gear heads.

Yeah it was pretty bad Jess, they have insurance for the rigs and cars while they aren't racing, but since they weren't at fault I would guess it would be the truck drivers insurance anyway.

And yes, all gear heads...:D

My Dad and his 4 brothers are all gear heads, all their sons are gear heads, and even my Mom's only brother is a gear head.

However, most of us are just gearheads for fun, but Ron, Brian, and Nick are gearheads for a living, which is pretty cool. They build all the race cars for themselves and customers. That Vette has a solid axle under it and a cage in it, but you can't even tell by looking at it there. Some other cars they build from scratch instead of starting with a body. That Vette was completely gutted though before being completely reassembled. And obviously the Cobalt had some serious modifications to go from stock front wheel drive to a tubbed chrome-moly tube chassis car.

Dam Heath, that was a horiific scene...glad they got out of it.

I never put the two together, I've seen Folk race cars before, mostly just going down the track, haven't really looked them over, but I'm sure they're a quality piece.
It supposed to be pretty dam hot in Chicago for the drags, so not sure how much walking around we'll do, but if I run into one of the cars I'll stop in and tell em Heath said to stop by.
I thought stock had to run the stock rear, super stock I know can change but was thinking stock had to have all factory equipment on the car right down to the trim and stuff?

Yeah, it was a pretty bad accident, the carnage and the fire were immense. That was about a month ago, I am glad they weren't hurt themselves, but not everyone came out of it so it was a bad deal all around.

I don't know the details of all the rules, but stock has to use the factory suspension mounting points I think, and they both have to have upholstered interiors, stock may have have to use the factory interior. To be honest I am not sure how they mounted the axle in the vette as I haven't had time to go check it out the times I been back in the area, and it was just finished, but they make some high end stuff so I am sure it looks good. I think they were working with Moser to develop that project so it may be an available kit now. They are going to be in Norwalk the following weekend, I might try and make it for a day, got a lot going on right now.

I know their camaro in stock still had a nice CD player in it with tunes(which was funny for a trailered drag car) because it has to be over a certain weight for each class anyway, but they sold that one, Nick won a couple World Championships in that car, I remember driving it before it was "converted". Then they sold it and built a new one out of my sisters 99 Camaro she had. Now they have the Vette. They usually run Top Dragster as well, but I don't know if they have any dragsters left right now, maybe 1? They are building more I bet, but that takes time.

slick piece....I was thinking they had to use the factory transaxle as well, but as Slapper mentioned due to the intended use, upgraded components would be allowed. I know the older Vettes like mine are required to have driveshafts hoops around the halfshafts too in certain cases.

had one of those days today where you actually take a couple steps backwards...went to put the big tires on today, and backed the Maiden out of the shop, only to find a ps leak on one of the lines to the hydro cylinder, that required dis- assembling the line and cutting the end to get fresh seal.
The had to go through the bleeding process again, as the fluid leaked down to the point of getting air in the system.
So I decided I didn't get anything done today I planned on doing, and that was crucial to be able to squirt some paint on the panels before Friday...well that ain't gonna happen now, so I'll freshen up the RAPC green coating and put the hood, fenders, tube doors, and tailgate back on like they were, and concentrate on a few other items rather than bustin' my ass to get a bunch of stuff done in a thrash again before wheelin'
I know what your thinking.... I'm a slacker, and your right I am...

Ha paint is the last thing on my mind when going wheeling. I say that yet I seem to remember several times staying up late to get stuff painted before a run.

That said, its never worth it. Your headin to the dunes right? No big deal.

Worry about it when you get back.

yep, just wanted to get them painted before putting them back on...but I still need to figure out the inner fenderwell fitment, make a plate(s) and weld up the opening made from opening up the wheel opening for the larger tires, and also a few other minor issues that need to be corrected before I put some paint on them.
Not sure when I'll get to it now, as soon as I get back from SL dunes, I'll start on getting the new bags, and paint on the bike before the ride in Aug. comes. I'd like to have that done at least a couple weeks before the trip, so I'm not in a rush as usual.

Keep at it zim. Let me know if you want to run bundy sometime. Just waiting on my driveshaft to come in and finish mounting shocks, and tighten up leaks and I'll be ready for a shakedown run.

I would like to run Bundy Jess, even if I have to wait til fall to do it...I'll need to get my trans skid done before then for sure. What is the name of that gulley full o rocks?
