hahaha, my son in law mentioned I was pimping my daughter for this shoot!

I ordered some new studs for the front hubs...Dorman 610-563 (9/16-18; 3" OAL; .658 serrated diameter)....supposed to be the same as the OEM D60 SRW studs that I switched back to, that are too short to engage the minimum required 9/16" thread engagement of the nuts with the aluminum wheels on...we'll see how these work out.

DSCN0751 (1024x576).jpg DSCN0752 (1024x576).jpg DSCN0753 (1024x576).jpg the new studs arrived today, looks like a great match for the existing stock D60 studs, just giving me 1/2 inch more threads.

Also the wheel inserts, as you can see in the pics, will fit nicely in the dish of the lugnut opening, and also are about .005 smaller than the shank hole opening in the wheel, which will center the wheel on the stud, which as it turns out was part of the problem with the other studs...being not centered allowed them to move slightly so they finally worked their way loose in the hub.
I think I got this finally.

Where did you get the wheel inserts?

The inserts appear to have a flat surface, what nuts will you use?

001-case-bell-lg.jpg 002-t400-supercase-lg.jpg 005-t400-supercase-in-lg.jpg They do John, I need to hit em @ a 60* angle with a drill bit to make a seat for the lugnuts...of course that will remove the chrome, but it will make em right.....

Also found a new case for the TH400...thicker casting throughout, although it still has the vulnerable two windows in the low/reverse band area.

Make sure the bell is not too thick and that your tc will fit in there.
I got one of those bolt on bells and I will need a smaller aftermarket tc.

Just pretty much a dreamer at this point Issaam....if I crack another, I got bigger issues to sort out.

Which makes me wonder:

If the engine torque twists the drivetrain down to the pass side, could the axle torque/driveshaft twist it in the opposite direction or same, or not a factor???

Well in theory yes, but to transmit back from the driveshaft back to case with the leverage of the gears, I think it's negligible.

So Dave, what's up with the Maiden? Did you get that Reid th400 case? :D

[hijack]
I saw a post a post in the lounge that made me wonder... If you had it to do over, what would be different?
[/hijack]

Oh my :eek1:, never knew about those. Dems sexy

I too am wondering about the maiden and Dave's recent comments and wonder if something will come of them......

used another 4x4 case...which looks weak in comparison to the Reid/JW/ATI...if I break another, I got mounting issues.
I have hammered this combo before putting in that skid plate, so I really do think that is the issue...it forced the t/c up about 1/2" in the wrong direction of engine torque.

perhaps eventually...but think more on the line of John and Kelly's trucks...I have so much money into this truck and it sits 99% of the year, I trailer it to the trails/parks....which also requires a stout tow vehicle...so let your imagination run with that!

no pitbulls for a while, but a heater and more street worthy would be a nice option to have as well

why not work towards 2 sets of rims/tires Dave.... use those slot's with some more street friendly rubber.. than have a set of steelie beadlocks with some rockers, TSL's, etc that you could throw on for wheeling trips... that way you wouldn't be eating up the offroad tires too...
