Hey Dave, have you checked the vacuum modulator?

Have you ever heard a full-manual valve-body?

:haha:

How much of a delay shifting? My manual valve body when I click it to next gear it is a slight delay from moving shifter to when the tranny makes the shift. I figured that is mostly normal by the time the shift linkage tell it to shift and the valve body makes the shift. Maybe Brandon can chime in too since I know he runs a manual valve body in the racer.

He had a 1 - 2 second delay, it should be almost instantaneous, it should feel like it shifted before you even let go of the shifter.

IMWO, I think you should paint the door tubes and bumpers and leave the rock sliders body color.

Ah I should have ridden with you so I could see what was happening. My trans shifts pretty quick. But going into reverse has a fairly long delay. Did you have any issues with that chattering problem you were having?

ah, mine is probably like .25 to .5 of a second at most I would say. Enough to kinda notice it.

Listening to the maidens BB sing this weekend I can say it wasn't a few seconds but just not instantaneous.

We had an Art Carr brand (I think) valve body that had a terrible delay from 1st to Reverse. Almost caused me to endo a few times. Running a TCI valve bodies only now and there is no real delay anywhere in any shifts.

Keeping in mind this is in a TH350 as well.

Bring a few rattle cans with you to the dunes. I'm sure there will be a few helpful drunk friends who'd be happy to spray those parts for you! :haha:

Nice punch list Zim, good job staying focused and knocking it out. :waytogo:

thanks Greg, it helps me stay focused and prioritized (and helps me not to forget things either...helpful at my age!!:doah:)

Matt, I had a Cheetah FMVB in it before this build...it worked awesome, instant very firm shifts...absolutely no hesistation....My Vette is the same way...both Cheetah FMVB...this one is a TCI FMRVB....I still need to call my builder to see what he has to say about it...maybe just the pan can come off instead of the whole trans coming out for a change! (I finally have no leaks between the trans and t/c adapter!)

Right Heath, of the 4 FMVB vehicles I've had, none have had a slow 1-2 shift as this one

My Reverse is quick and hard as well...just my 1-2 is slow to happen, but is firm when it does...the 2-3 shift a slight delay nothing like the slowness of the 1-2 though.

Just did a little quick searching on the topic and seems a slight 1-2 shift delay isn't abnormal on a 400, probably like what I notice. But a couple of seconds seems excessive for sure.

I'm getting slightly used to it now...its really only an issue when its full throttle and hitting the revlimiter!

My Cheetah was very quick to respond, this TCI is the first problem I've had...

Since I cracked the case these parts were all in before, this new trans has a K case and a different V/B put in from the last build...:dunno:

a few of my favorite shots of the weekend at Holton Hillbilly dunefest @ SilverLake...

Front hubs replace wheel studs...DONE////// New set up is looking real good now!
Mount tires/alum wheels...DONE

Replace PS pump….flush PS system...DONE
Fix 205 front output rattle...DONE???////NO..still rattles
Install trans/doubler...DONE
Install driveshafts...DONE
Install shifters...DONE
Oil change and lube...DONE
Run vent hoses for drivetrain...DONE
Torque suspension bolts...DONE
Tiedowns for rear bed area...DONE
Latch for gas door
Customize tarp cover

Got most of the stuff done I wanted to before heading to the dune party...

the rattle is still in the 205...most pronounced on the road in high gear when in a coast mode...under throttle or decelleration its not making the noise.

I did find a master cylinder leak between the firewall and hydro boost unit...will need to replace the m/c.
Also the rear axle shaft seal on the hub started to throw a bit of oil...will need to replace that gasket again, maybe pull the bearings to see how they look...its the same side that give me problems in Moab a few years ago.

Let us know what you find about the delay. Mine is the TCI with compression braking in otherwise a bone stock th400.

Your hogging the center line!! :D

Right Dean it's not easy to multitask doing 45 mph ha ha

I left the maiden at the trans shop he is going to contact TCI about line pressures and go from there

He will get it in to work on it tomorrow

Ordered a new Master Cylinder...to replace the 78C30 cylinder that is on it now...it works great with an adjustable inline valve to the rear. This one leaks at the firewall, so a new one is on order...Dorman part # M98953, same as Oreilly's Brakebest brand part # MC98953.
It is 1.3215 diameter piston and is standard on hydroboosted JB8 brake option trucks (9-10K GVW)

Also some new axleshaft gaskets and a diff cover gasket from Lubelocker for the D60 and 14BFF..

How can you change the title to trans diagnosis when I don't see one yet?
