image.jpeg image.jpeg This one has a bit of spotting on the porcelain

Also I see no definitive "heat ring" on the porcelain???

now that I have my glasses on and a full screen those pics suck, here are more representative pics

after doing some looking, it looks like I may be running the right plug/mixture, but a bit too much timing...not sure where it is right now, but I'll back off total timing about 4* with new plugs

Careful with how close you read them. I've read that some of the info/pictures on the Internet is for drag racing runs where you put new plugs in before the run and then pull them at the end of the strip after shutting the engine off. Reading them gets harder the more miles that are on them. They don't look too bad to me.

I wouldn't read too much into them either. I wouldn't change timing based on plug color. But If anything they look just a hair rich.

i was mostly looking at the electrode where it changes color toward the base....I will confirm my timing when I get the new plugs in it. I can't remember where it is static or mechanical advance??? I'm thinking 12 initial and 34 total brought in slowly and in by 3000

I have the idle a bit rich or it dies, @ 800rpm
WOT is@ 12.5 as recommended
I will check those settings again when I get the new tuneup parts in it.

Dave did you set your IAC low enough when the engine is warmed up and in neutral? It should be able to keep it running no problem, but if the valve isn't closed enough when its warm them it may not be able to open far enough to keep it running when its cold or when its in gear.

I think 12.8 or so at WOT should run good and still be plenty safe.

Mine idles rich too. I think it's a FAST 1.0 quirk. I had to go back and set the IAC down some and now it doesn't want to die every time I let off the gas but it still needs to set rich.

I have my WOT set to 12.7, it seems happy there. Every engine is a tad different though.
The dunes are a good place to play with the WOT A/F. Pick a hill and hit it at different target ratios and see what works best :waytogo:

I agree with health, 12.8 is safe, 12.5 is fat..
They seem a tad rich, nothing alarming though..

I will go thru the setup menu again to be sure....seems like I went thru the steps as it asks you too, but wouldn't hurt to do it again.

Glen do you know what your idle mix is?
I think I will do some playing with the programmer at the dunes.

Zim,

I'll tell you the same thing I tell Charlie when he's reading one of his books.... just sound out the word letter by letter.

The "D" makes a "Duh" sound.... then the "E" makes an "ehhh" sound......"L"......"El"......"C"...."O"

Looks like "DELCO" to me.....

Nice Job Zim, way to sound-it-out like a big boy.

Here's your cookie! :D

:haha:

Ok thanks for the tip....now if I could figure out what those other numbers/letters mean.....lol
Cookies.....where duder?????

Is the tan/brown color how your reading them as rich?

I'd say it's dark to be considered perfect.. Within the realm of adjustment but not so close it's like splitting hairs.. Its possible it's just rich in a certain point in the range.. Cruise or while accelerating. Normally a fi engine produces an almost grey plug..

Yah and when he pulled them. Did you do a wot pull then shut it down and pull the plugs? Idle and pull the plugs? Or just pulled them after the last run?.

I believe mine is set at 12.8 or 12.9 or 13.0 Im away from the truck and can't remember exactly. Either way it's pretty rich and smells it too but that's how it runs the best :screwy:

We'll get our trcks together at the dunes and tweak on them.
