That, is exactly why I let professionals do trans for me.... I'm scared of that pile of parts lol. I'd mess it up for sure.

Damn Dave. That's a lot of stuff to go back into that case.
A smorgasbord!

Well it would seem easier than an engine build, but I’ve had my issues trying to build the 400.
Hopefully this one will be a good effort!

Run into a snag....the center support Torrington bearing is rough, this one slipped by me on tear down but it needs replacement which hopefully I can get tomorrow

No just a reference pic
There was a question of how much longer the 208 was

I think I will mate them up to see if the 208 output will engage without interference.

Trans is all together!
Hopefully will get the install and system flushed out tomorrow
I will take the auxiliary trans cooler and auxiliary filter out and do a bench flush on those. The lines and radiator will get some trans line flush in a can.

so the big culprit...a cheap TCI convertor.

Greg states:
Your converter shit the bed. This was based on an 11 inch C4 converter which used a plastic stator assembly. You can see that the sprag is all that remains of the stator, the rest has disintegrated and wiped out the internals, converter is a total loss. Be sure and flush those cooler lines and cooler, if the cooler cannot be properly flushed then replace it. Remove every valve from pump and valve body so all of this debris can be cleaned from the trans. This is the biggest mistake the home builder makes, not properly cleaning trans and cooler system. We are throwing this pile of poo in the trash where it belongs, at least we know for sure what failed!

After your pics I got inspired to look up how a torque converter works. Pretty cool stuff!

Hey Dave, ever break something just a little?

Glad to hear it's coming together. Hope to see you this weekend.!
