Are the pedels from a hydroboost setup? I seem to remember the pivot pin being in a different location on hydro boost setups. Providing more leverage but less effective travel.

Ah ha! Here is what im talking about! Dont know if it applies to you. But an FYI anyway...

After the tbi swap?

Sorry, I should've been more clear. I meant the driveability issues, not the brakes.

But yes after the swap it falls on its face with any real amount of throttle. It ran we some in the k5 before.

:doah:

uugggghhhhhhh

Not what I wanted to see. If I remember correctly my pedals are from a hydroboost equipped 2wd dually 1 ton. All of that hydroboost stuff looks like a nightmare...

I had no idea there was any difference in the pedal assemblies. Time to hit the junkyard. At least the part numbers are visible in the picture. That may help you if you have to look to make sure what you're getting.

I wonder if they used the same brake pedal on lots of GM cars and trucks. I bet they did.

Me either. I've seen 1 factory hydro clutch truck there in all the times I've went, and I took the pedals out of it. No way I'm going to swap them out again. Unless you're talking about finding a hydroboost setup?

Mark1968, what are your pedals out of? Did you have any problems getting the pedals to fit or the pedal rod?

I had to drill out my pedal rod to fit onto the hydro pedals... So now I think I may have screwed myself and might not be able to use my old pedal...

when I did my last hydroboost swap with a clutch, I used the pedal that came with the hydroboost (for an auto) and cut it down to the size of the of the manual version. A little grinder action was all it took.

I think I actually have a brake pedal that came out of a Blazer that had an automatic and a diesel, so I guess it would be hydroboost. :dunno:

I think it's in a pile of parts in my shed. I'll look for it when I get home and post a pic of it. I didn't notice any difference between it and the one that was already on my vacuum boost gas truck, but I didn't know to look for one either.

What did you cut down?

I'll probably have to do like Marty said and drill a hole lower and move it. Can't remember if the mount where the rod attaches is bolted on or how I'll get it out.

It's has a pin with a cotter pin that holds it on. I think it's also bolted to the pivot point. Notice in the pic that the thing you would be relocating is shaped different also. I would try to get one that was already the right one to start with. Let me check out what I have and it may be what you need.

I'd rather try the easy way out, if there is one, before switching over to hydroboost. I just want to be done working on this thing for a while and drive it.
