80 Jimmy - The Monkey Paw (Time to finish interior)

Idea with this was to build it robust, and simple, and utilitarian. KISS principal.
As stated before I just use the back the truck up method, crouch under, lift with your legs and slide it off and have my girlfriend keep it from sliding off the side if she's there.

Haven't updated this in a while. Had family things going on. Dog things going on. Hot as hell....

Anyhow, got a little bit to report. Got some friends over to help pull the top off. Got the seals replaced, no more leaks there.

Then realized there's supposed to be some tab deals at the ends of the tailgate.

So I ordered some of those plastic tabs to fill that gap.

Went to put new sweeps on the tailgate and realized my window is 'warped'... Never seen that before. Bent enough that I can't get the inner sweep in. Anyone seen that before?

And then she wouldn't start...

Got the end seals on the tailgate just in time for a sprinkle of rain.
Got the carpet laid in the back, haven't cut it or got the edges down yet.
Took the inner door panel off and overall it doesn't look too bad. Have to clean it up and use some SEM on it.

Except for the upper corners. Looks like the sun has started degrading them. Any ideas on how to build/repair them.

One thing I forgot to mention is the pivot pin that is on the bottom of the vent window is broken free at the frame. Has anyone made any repairs to that rod.

I do have new seals for that window and was going to rebuild it. Never use it, so didn't realize it was busted.

Is the stud on a bracket that is riveted to the glass frame? Maybe you can do something with it when you take it apart.
It's threaded so that you can adjust tension on the spring that should be on it.

I have yet to get too much farther w/ that vent window. Moonsoons started this weekend. So 110deg and rain forcast for most of the week already... Was hoping I'd have gotten the truck sealed up before this started. Maybe I'll be able to sneak in some more looks at some point this week. But offhand I don't think there was a bracket riveted to it...? I do remember a very tiny amount of the stud sticking out of the frame. Hoping some very careful welding might be able to get me fixed up.

I don't know if this is out of the '79 that I parted a while back, but here is what I can show you.

Haven't done much as the heat has been killer. Humidity has been up from all the monsoon storms. 85% at times and dew point in the 70's most of the week...
Started on the vent windows. @6872xtc made me a deal I couldn't refuse on some frames he had. So I got a good set of frames and started rebuilding.

Old frame

Pic of the broken frame

"New to me" frame disassembled
Yes my workbench is a mess.....

New frame assembled. That elbow area was a serious pain in the ass. Couldn't get the new rubber seated in there so after I got the other 90% done and spent another hour farting w/ it. I took a c-clamp and some windex and doused it down. Gently tightened up the C-clamp and it actually popped in!

Going to swap that into the truck tomorrow, and start on the other side.

Anyone have any tips for removing the vent windows from the doors? I've got them loose inside and they move about 1/8-1/4" but can't tilt them back far enough to start pulling them.. Don't want to get physical if I don't need to.

Got it. Gotta turn the nose to the outside of the truck. and sneak it out between the glass and the sheetmetal brace. Fitting the new one in there w/ new rubbers is a major bear to do..

Light coat of grease or WD40 help squeeze it in?
