82 K20 CREW "WONTON"

FYI I love my 5.38s and my carriers are the common 4.10 and under carriers.

Picked up another crew cab tonight.. currently just a parts truck but may become a beater at some point.
454, sm465, Doug Nash overdrive, np205, Dana 44, 14 bolt.
I bought it for the rear end with disk brakes.

Check out this hackery contraption of rear suspension. Leaf springs with coils up front?

I've been slacking on the updates. I got my 2wd gearbox rebuilt and drilled for hydro assist. Currently working on getting the rear axle finished up. Headed to pick up another housing since the previous owner destroyed it trying to cut the brackets off.

How did the steering box rebuild go? Be been thinking about rebuilding mine rather than paying for one that some other monkey like me rebuilt.

Was it just hard to keep them in place?
Yeah its hard to expain. You have to basically make a circle with them inside of the the piston and then thread the worm gear in. Wheel bearing grease helps to hold them in place and then I cleaned it out with brake clean after it was assembled.

I think I know what you are talking about. Vaseline works good for holding things in place. I worked with a guy that used it for building transmissions and transfer cases and he never had any issues with it. I've been partially into a steering box but haven't tried to rebuild one so this is good to know! Thanks!
