'83 k30 Project

I think I have a solution pinned down. I'll update later in the week.

I coulda swore this truck would have a 32 spline output being an '83. Thought '81 was the first year for it...

Cool truck btw! I dig it.

Right! Mine is 465/ 208 32 spline out of a 81

Edit. had to go back to the first page....His is a 205

Yes, 1981 was the first year for the 32 spline SM465/NP208 combo.

In K10's, K20's, Suburbans, Blazers, and Jimmys.

K30's retained the ten spline SM465/NP205 combo until 1984. The first year for the 32 spline SM465/NP205 combo was 1985.

What he said.
I currently have everything to pull the case and adapter just waiting for an open weekend to dig in. maybe this next weekend the weather will clear up and i can get to it.

Why not get a nice tool box? Lots of storage in them. You can get the short ones that don't go over the bed rails like mine if you don't like how they look.

I actually did put one in it, I had one from a previous vehicle.

no sir just driving it around here and there. soon as the weather cools off a bit I am going to reseal the transfer case and replace the tranny mounts. Also have a ORD twin stick setup to put in it and some bling knobs. Other than that I'm trying to decide on the next move for it. I did pick up am entire K30 frame and two front fenders and a hood for free a few months back, not sure if I ever mentioned that.

still around. sorry haven't been on here much. Busy with new job and selling a house and starting a side business so for the time being I just beat around in the truck occasionally.
I think here pretty soon Ill be looking to drop the big block we have in it. If so ill be sure to post progress. Still need to lengthen the front shaft and twin stick the t-case I never got around to rebuilding.

So yesterday I spent a little time cleaning up under the hood, which led to cleaning up under the dash. I'm starting to think that after the big block there will likely be a DIY dash ordered up to really clean up the dash.

Before

After

and i saved these...one was falling off and went ahead and popped the other loose.

I'll probably find a piece of diamond plate to fill the void and use the empty space to mount battery trays and get any future wiring cleaned up and organized.

Currently digging into my options for headers for the BBC. Anyone have some real world recommendations as to what actually fits. The last k30 I saw with headers had the frame notched and the shackle hangers were pretty close as well.

long or short tubes?
Well to me if you're going headers pretty much long tubes are the way to go, short tubes I always heard you may as well just run manifolds. Not sure what the truth is there.

Honestly I'm not worried about drag racing performance I just want the best fit

Lot's of opinions on that, I only ask because you'll find the longtubes hang down quite a bit. That may not be an issue for your application.

For longtube's the headmans (Part Number #69130) I ran for awhile cleared the rail fine. On the passenger side the header flange would rub the front DS a little when stuffed. (Th350/NP205)

Appreciate the info, I may also try some block huggers.
Still in the air on that
