I find myself making lists of parts needed and ordering them online. I get summit stuff next day (free when I order $100+) and almost always cheaper than the local auto parts stores.

A) parts chains are not hurting for business.
B) they rarely stock good brands
C) I have other things to do besides spending 40 minutes driving to and from a parts store.
D) I did just buy spark plugs, well the 4 they had in stock, at the parts store in my little town of 1000 people. Only because I left work early to watch my son's home track meet. Normally they're not open when I'm home.

Stuff is still Chinese!

I can't buy local. Those guys they employ know less about cars than my kid
Yeah I usually go prepared with part numbers. I also get a really good company discount. My old napa was the best. If you ever need to find anything from a napa call the one in Moab. Hands down the best parts guys in all of Utah and Idaho so far. Talk to Derek or Matt and tell them Luke told you to call them.

I like the napa's too, they are the best at finding the weird parts and the old timers refer to a book before a computer.

Wish I had that good of luck around here. NAPA is just as bad as the others near my house. When I need something "strange" I go to Parts Connection in Sandy, UT. They know their stuff and have an actual machine shop in back.

Matt the old red neck that looks like a truck driver with the bill of his hat rolled over?

That's unfortunate.

Two of our NAPA's here have full service machine shops.

Lol No that's Mark. He used to be at carquest til they switched owners. Matt is the big guy. Mark is pretty good too but was new to Napa stuff.

I work in a college town so all the parts stores have the rotation of dumbass college kids working there temporarily and they all cater to the college auto class for their parts they stock.

So to be clear, everything is running good with this now? Timing control and all? You had mentioned a problem others have had when timing control was added.

The problems I had were caused from a voltage drop during cranking, FiTech needs 12v to fire the ignition which the truck was not providing. After repairing several poor connections (one completely severed off) and cleaning the bulkhead I no longer saw the voltage drop I was experiencing before. I also moved the power wires that supply voltage to the fuse panel from the starter up to the battery.

It fires up and runs fine, revs well etc. I noticed the base timing is around 15, I was shooting for 10 so I need to adjust that. Once it's on the road I'll play with the advance timing when it's under load.

Just makes me tempted to put the locked out distributor on now.

With that MSD unit you're using, did you just install it at 0° and hooked it up to the FiTech?
