'85 K10 Project "Yellow Truck"

No real update over the winter fixed a couple small things nothing major. Was able to get it out a couple weeks ago for our local 4wheel club cleanup in the Red River Gorge area in Slade Ky. at Hollerwood OHV Park. I had a older jeep guy ride with me as he wasn't interested in getting his new jeep muddy that day. He had a blast riding in the truck. He was amazed at how it handled. Commented on how the ride quality was nowhere the same as compared to his JL Jeep but he still had fun climbing up into the truck. Said it remined him of his younger days.
We finished cutting in a new trail at the park for them. only 3 of us tried it, the rest were too nervous to try it plus it looked like body damage might happen. Which did happen. :doah:Thankfully nothing too bad.
Had some fun on the way home again thins time it seems my axle shaft loosened up which caused a bunch of rear end fluid to fling out. Look like it happened close to home as the mess looked worse than the actual fluid loss. I need to empty my car trailer and just to the truck any distance but was still a great feeling that i can drive it to the trail and back home. Been a goal of mine to make this truck dependable to drive if need be.
Anyways feels good to be out in the woods again and not worry to much about the truck.
Did find I need to bend my trans lines out of the way of the fan noticed when turning while flexed the fan and trans lines were rubbing. Going to be switching over to freestar fans this year. just need to make up some tabs for the fan to mount.
On to the pics.

Been out enjoying the truck this year been on a handful of rides as of late. Joined a semi local Offroad club (Ohio River Four Wheelers) which has helped get my butt out and in the woods.
Currently wiring up some “rock lights” for a ride coming up this weekend. They are having a nite ride this year. Looks like rain so should be a muddy mess. ;)
Anyways getting my winter list together after these next couple of rides.
Think I’m gonna do great American crawl in windrock in a few weeks as long as the truck holds together after this weekend. Eh it should she has been solid so far. Also I don’t beat on it on the trails so that helps.
Anyways some various pics.

Winter project was removing the body lift. Not a real hassle except for the cab mount nuts. Had to cut some access holes and weld the nuts to the keepers. Changed out the cab mounts to some polyurethane ones. Cab seems to be a lot less creeky on the trail now.
Went to a newish off-road park in Kentucky called Leatherwood Off-road place is huge but in the middle of nowhere. Anyways an hour into found that my passenger spindle bearings crapped the bed. Parked it and road with my buddy and ended up ripping the bumper off try to winch up a waterfall.
Turned out to be spindle bearing, wheel bearings and out axle shaft on the passenger side.

Was out on Saturday leading our club ride around red River gorge area and seemed to developed a mild case of death wobble. Truck doesn’t like to turn right without shaking the wheel and wobble if I hit a good bump at lower speed.
Also need to crack into my transfer case it is not very happy. Lots of growling when in 4 low and seems to pop out of 4 hi. Also makes noise in 2wd when I decel if I give it a little gas the noise goes away. It’s the last piece that has been original and haven’t been gone thru.
This truck is a blast to drive and always seem to find “fan clubs” yelling “squarebody!” Out on the trails.

Went to Leatherwood off-road over the weekend for Southern four wheel drive association Trailfest event. Was tail gunner for the guided rides. Truck did very good believe I found out my death wobble was. Looks like the front leaf springs eye bolts are a smidge loose. A full nut and bolt check is on my short list now. Maybe new eye bushings, not sure how often the poly bushings need replacing?
Pretty good turnout.
