87K506 Build thread

dont have any worth showin, unless ya'll wanna see what it looks like now :)...Actually I'll be home this week workin a bit on custom sub boxes for it, so ill prolly take a bunch of pictures and post them up on here monday. I got a hold of a nice dash bezel off of ebay for pretty cheap, so I've began my collection of parts...once finals are over in may, ill be puttin it in overdrive and gettin stuff done on it.

sh*t you better. kick open all four barrels and knock the hard stuff out. wheres "home" for you? or do you live in college station? im near san'tone. i wish i could go to aTm for my engeneering but im at TxState right now.

I live in college station right now. But over the summer I will be going back to my parents house which is just south of waco. Thats where the blazer is, and hopefully soon my dad will finally have a shop built, which means ill have plenty of room to tear the thing apart at. I'm at A&M for mechanical engineering, its tough but love the area. I have some friends at TxState they like it...I hear its a big party school?? any truth to that??

uhh not from what i have seen. LOTS of STD's though. yikes. the atmosphere is pretty much the same as at college station. lots of the same bars and clubs after hours. personally i would prefer it in college station. its nicer out there. and yall got 2? off road parks real close i think.

at the sake of sounding like a dumbass...whatoffroad parks are close? i'm gonna need a place to go when i get everything done.

no pics from the weekend....It was too cold to go out and take pics...I didnt go home with clothes appropriate for our easter snowstorm here in texas lol. Will work on gettin pictures.

On another subject, what do you guys do for storage in your blazers? I'm thinking now about building a big diamond plate lock box type thing to go in the rear cargo area. It would be bolted in and have my two sub boxes in it, and then the rest of it would be lockable storage. Plus the lid(s) would have tie downs and cargo netting to put stuff on top of it and tie it down...Thats the plan anyways...gotta get around to drawing it up on autocad i guess.

Here's the first design for my storage box... isometric, top and bottom views...cant tell alot difference between the top and bottom views tho.

I'm startin a bit on the blazer today, tryin to clean all the road oil off of the paint, and need to get the corner molding off on the back. I got into a boo boo 2 years ago, and a fencepost convienently removed the driverside one, but left the tabs. I need to know how to get the passenger side one off, and how to get the tabs off, and replace the tabs, because new corner molding will be going back on eventually...any help??

bump....
plus new question would ya'll go with herculiner or linex? I dont mind payin for linex or rhinoliner if its that much better than herculiner. How much work is herculiner to put on? Would one herculiner kit get my entire floor done from cargo area to the front?

Cory,

I saw the link to this thread and figured I would post up on it.

I prefer the Line-X over the rhino and have heard mixed reviews on the herc. I have the Line-X in my new chevy dually and love it.

I cant offer ya any help on the tab situation. I do all my body work w/ a sawzall. :wink1:

We are having the end of year bbq for TAMOR on wednesday, if you are interested in stoppin by let me know and I will get you directions and time.

where is the bbq gonna be? I might stop in for a bit, but i'll be pimpin the stang as the blazer isnt registered or inspected yet.

It's going to be at the city park on Dexter St. in College Station and will kick off about 5:30pm. I will PM ya my # in a bit.

herc is all about the prep, if you prep well it will look great but if you dont it will chip and crap like that. for your storage box, where were you planning on putting it?

the box is gonna go in the back behind the rear seat...its gonna take up the entire cargo area, since i'd rather have security without the top...it'll be able to come out fairly easy with the planned design tho.

I read that the herc is bad on your skin, like after its been applied that its so rough it tears up your feet and stuff walkin on it. I plan on makin several trips to the beach over the summer and while it wont bother me it will prolly bother the females goin with me, and when the women aint happy aint no one happy lol

aint that the truth, luckily my girlfreind went with me muddin the other day and had a blast... i think i got her hooked.

what would you say about the herc... to rough or no? Its either herc for around a $100 or like $400 for a rhinoliner type with the rubber granuals...my dad has it in his truck and its nice, doesnt get slick somehow when it gets wet...but i just have a hard time payin that much for bedliner
