89 K5 ls power on tons

Been working 14/7 since October and finally got some time off. Pulled the harness out the blazer the other day and tidied it up some. My buddy is supposed to come by and do a segment swap on the pcm this weekend, hopefully a test drive around the neighborhood will follow!!

Pulled it out from under the shed and washed it for the first time since I had it. Still need to clean some wiring up under hood. Swapped the rear window cable and it seems I need a new switch, goes down fine but wouldn't come back up. Jumped the wire in the back and came right up.

Yeah I went back today hoping to find another one for my s10 project, no luck this time.

Finished up the flip kit and got the 14 bolt in place. I really hope it's only sitting this high because the interior is stripped out, and the gas tank only has a gallon in it.

Did you drop the gas tank for the flip?

Not all the way out, just loostened the straps as much as I could. If I did it again, I'd def drop the tank out though. Would have made it easier.

Love this thing, such a dang good looker, I dig all what you've done to this so far.

Well, worked on the tune today and got some bad news. The "good" transmission I bought doesn't have 3rd or 4th gonna double check my wiring tomorrow but have a feeling it's toast.

Well checked the wiring and swapped a new shift solenoid in. Shifted fine then it blew the front seal, replaced the front seal and blew the new one within 20 miles. Picked up a used 80e from local salvage yard for cheap so it's finally on the road.
Got it aligned this morning, made its first trip in the woods a few minutes ago. Kinda disappointed that the reman box I got from rock auto has a fair bit of slack in it though.

Already had to pull the transfer case out three times, last time out put a new input seal in the 241 and a new gym gasket on both sides of the clocking ring.
Been driving it to the deer stand, stopped and took the first poser shot this morning. They have a pile of concrete I might play on next time the workers aren't around.

Great build! I'm looking more seriously into an ls swap for my 86 k5. Would you recommend a painless harness for mine? I'm very new to the ls swap world. Thanks!

Thanks man. Imo the painless harness is too expensive for what it is. Last one I saw didn't even come with loom and it and was around 500. You can get a really nice standalone harness from current performance, I've bought a few from them and had great luck.

Thanks man awsome k5!

Managed to put a few hundred miles on it over the past few days. Couldn't be happier with the way it rides and drives. It's amazes me that it has less drivetrain vibes then my extended cab s10 lol

Couple things I want to address though.
-steering box slack has to be fixed or the box needs replacing.
-needs more gear!!! Cruising 60 it's at 1900, I see 5.38s in the future.

Ordered speakers the other day, kicker 3.5 for the dash and Polk marine for the back. Already had a marine jvc deck from a s10 I had awhile back. Hoping it comes in before I go back offshore. Plan on starting on the interior when I get back in.

with the OD some better gears would really improve the torque out the hole :saweet:

What tire size and gears are you running now?

truck looks bitchin' btw
