FWIW, my column shows P R (OD) D 2 1. So, when I say I drive in three, I mean D without overdrive. When I say I drive D on the highway, I allow it to go into Overdrive.

look at the D it should have a square around it representing an O


Or not, I may have been thinking of another truck I've had....
 
Zimmer - And in mine it has P R (D) D 2 1 where "(D)" represents a D with an O around it.
 
The 700R4 will have a harsher downshift from 2-1 if the trans selector is in 3rd and not OD as there is more line pressure when the trans is in 3rd rather than OD.
 
I live in Reno. My K5 has 4.56's and 37" tires, and it's not good. 4.88's would be better, and really 5.13's would be the best. It's hard to drive 70mph anyway, between traffic and the fact we're in a Blazer anyway.

Because my truck is geared so high I rarely use OD, unless I am going 65mph+ on a level freeway.

Most of the driving around here is 40-60mph, and the tranny will hunt in and out trying to stay in OD.

I Haaaaaaaaaaate Fallon, tho.

Aside from Sand Mt., and the bevvy of entertaining "METH=DEATH" sign's.... it sucks.
It also seems to me, like the locals can't read. :dunno:
 
I've been through Fallon a few times. Never minded it much. I think it's awfully pretty out that way. Plus, air force bases are cool.
 
Lived in Portland for 28 years, then down to Eugene for 20. Wifes from Reno, so we moved here a year ago.

It's where they moved Top Gun to a decade or so ago. I've looked at jobs out that way.
 
Colby.....have you been to Dog Valley yet? If you take 395N to Cold Springs and go behind the Chevron station, there's a dirt road that you can follow up into the hills. There are a lot of camp roads and fire roads that you can either hike or drive up. But if you stay on the main road all the way to the top, it leads you into a huge valley with streams and ponds everywhere. It'd be a great run for that new rig of yours.

That was one of my favorite places to go for a day trip into the mountains. I used to go there camping as often as I could with a couple friends of mine and when one of my closest friends was killed 8 1/2 years ago, we scattered his ashes up on Crystal Peak. If you haven't been there yet, give it a shot and have a cold drink of whatever for me while you're there 'cause I miss it so much. :waytogo:
 
Very cool! I've only taken the truck to the top of Peavine so far. :)

I'm headed out of town for a week and a half this morning, so I'll have to do the Dog Valley thing in a couple weeks.
