91' Blazer 6.0 LS, 4l80e, Nose swap, Full Top Conversion, and Restoration

What intake are you running? I got a TBSS with a 90mm throttle body.

My buddy’s cam specs are 232/234 600/600, but I didn’t realize he had milled 706 heads. 58cc chamber.

I'm using the truck intake with an 80mm throttle body

That's a big cam, what's his lsa?

I wanted to paint the engine...20191229_184315.jpg

Cam bearings weren't looking too great

Time for a partial rebuild!

You're joking right? All LS cam bearings look like that. Apparently the factory line hones after installing the cam bearings and it removes a bit of the material. Put a blindfold on and reinstall the cam.

Interesting... I'll have to look into it more. I was told the cam bearings were a big problem with these motors

Finally started working on the cage a bit

We goofed up on a couple bends so the loop for the middle ended up 3.5" too wide

And uh.... might as well

The engine did have 180,000 so before I have to take the engine out a few years from now to rebuild it why not rebuild it now? Might as well right??

I also committed to the 706 heads so it should pretty healthy :burnout:

+1 That turned out pretty good! Any more details or pics of how you relocated them? Can't tell from the pics...

This is pretty much what I did for the driver's side. Cut it at the red marks and the circled bracket I straightened out, shortened to half it's size, and turned it around. I also had to trim part of the bracket for the cross over tube and make up a small 90 degree bracket for one section.

20200210_230000.jpg

The passenger side I had to fit three of the coil packs on one side of the cross over tube, I haven't gotten around to getting the last one in but I'm sure I can get it in the there somehow

Not too glorious but it's a whole lot better than having them on the valve covers

I'll get better pictures of the brackets tomorrow

Edit: I forgot to mention on the driver's rear section, part of the intake had to be trimmed to fit the coil pack

Fit the panels for the nose and everything looks decent, however I don't think I'll ever buy aftermarket panels again. The edge of the hood has a weird taper for the first 8 inch's on the passenger side though it lines up well enough to call it ok

We've also been working on the the seat mounts

Driver's side is done, passenger side tomorrow!

We also got the last piece of tube in for the cage so we can call that done. After releasing the strap that was holding the firewall up it only moved about a 1/16"

Should be blasted within a month :)

What about those front overhead tubes, any worries about hitting your head on them while wheeling?

Sitting in the seat I have about 8 inches until my head would hit the tube so as long as I wear my seatbelt I think I'll be alright. Besides the most wheeling this truck will see is a dirt road or sand dunes if the northeast had them

That's what gets you off the seat and into the cage.
Rock crawling and mudding never got me off but running the dunes with no seat belt got my head into the roof.
