Id put a Dana 80 in it with a lock rite in it before a 30 spline locker.

Unless you’re a very easy driver the 1.31” 30 spline axles are beyond recommended limits for a tire that big with a manual transmission.
Only your driving style and intended use can justify sticking with the little axles or fix’n that potential issue …

I have been watching for an 80 to come through the junkyard, right now the closest one to me is $850. A lot of them were in Cummins trucks and have 3.54s. Id rather find one that's already 4.10 and just drop a lock right in.

80’s are so very cool !
An 11.25” R/P & 1-1/2” 35 spline axles and if it has a Powr-Lok or the later Trac-Lok it has a 4 spider gear set up all inside of a Nodular Iron chunk ( none of the AAM housings use that ) with 4” tubes.
Hold out for an 80 would be my vote !

Are they 35? Everything I can find says 37 spline

The 2500/3500 Dodges and most of the Ford F-350’s are 35 spline but the more medium duty crowd offerings like the original Super Duty’s of the late 80’s & early 90’s and GM’s 3500HD’s got the 37 spline axles.
Note: some of the later Ford regular SD’s supposedly were upgraded to 37 spline once the torque levels started gett’n outta hand.

Dodge 80s are 35 spline. And there is a ton of misinformation out there still about them. They are like 72” wide so you’ll need front spacers to match.
They do come in 4.10 gear for Cummins and v10 trucks. 01.5 -02 are discs.

Well the rear is already ~2” more narrow than the front so 72” wouldn’t be a huge deal.

Started out with the intention of installing my ORD shackles, somehow escalated to bobbing the bed by a foot

Note the taillight carnage from the last wheeling trip. Never did get the shackles installed, need to open the sleeve up to 5/8 and get a couple 5/8” bolts (came with 9/16)

Front upper spring hangers from @Hogback Fabrication. Beefy stuff, my only issue with them is they don’t give you sleeves for the spring side which I would think would lead to premature bushing wear, and also make it fairy hard to tighten down without crushing the bushing, so I’ll likely order up a set of 1” bushings with 5/8 sleeves.

So I was digging around the ole scrap pile the other night and realized I had a Dana 60 rear from a 79 Dodge truck, tore it down and found out it has the larger spindle bore already so the new plan is to swap it in and run 1.5" 35 spline shafts. Also bent the **** out of the stock t case skid plate the last time out, so I have been working on a new version using some ideas from how @Bent77 made his doubler mount with two factory crossmembers.

Nice! Those 60s should have extra webbing on the pumpkin as well. Score!
