Custom bedside panels
I wanted to hide my amp, power cap and all wires. My factory bed panels were junk I made these with a removable panel and a window to view the cap.
(I usually have my back seat in I just haven't put it back since blazer bash)

Ok so here's a start to all the problems. There is this old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" well I didn't listen.... my transmission pump seal went out and my engine had a couple small leaks, so rather than pull the trans and fix the leaks on the engine I decided to pull out everything to brighten it up.

Well if you know me you know that I like to get as much done when my projects are torn apart as possible. This lead to me thinking hey wouldn't it be great to add some easy power mods to this 454? I started a thread on here called "how to get more power out of a 454" or something like that?? Anyways I got lots of good feedback and found a sweet cam. Then I did some research and decided I really wanted better pistons also. This lead to a total rebuild.

I was way pumped and got straight to work.

I built this thing exactly to specs I was OCD with everything. It was going to last forever and I wanted it to be perfect

After the engine was built and the transmission came back from the shop I decided to rewire under the hood. And clean it up a bit

Then I got this engine installed. I was sooooo pumped

Well after the install was complete I tried to start it..... and tried... and tried.... had an expert come help me, we got it fired up but it just ran awful. We followed cam break in procedures to a T...... but wouldn't you guess I killed the new cam on startup..... f my life.. . The engine had to come back outo. Little did I know this would be one of 4 times I was going to pull the engine in the next year....
Were you buy that tent and what the size I need one so I can work on my 1990 suburban this winter . Really think your truck look great one day I'll be there

With a new cam if you try and try and try to start it that cam is turning and turning. The breakig proceedure has already been compromised. UNLESS it'a a roller cam. Also be sure to run molly additive with a flat tappet cam at every oil change. I really like what you did with the srereo panels.

So I'm finding a little rust right on the nose of my truck I dont mess with rust so i am going to replace the hood with a cowl hood any of you fine folks have suggestions on where to find the best fitting hood? i had a bad run in with LMC and doors so i hesitate a little. I am also thinking of replacing the tailgat, while its off and apart i may try to convert it to a manual crank window vs the dumpy electric. if anyone has suggestions on the tailget or conversions or cowl hoods im all ears.

Also want to call out that i nominated my buddy @72gmck5 for GMOTM go vote for him and the pic of him getting MASSIVE air!

Like you're work on the back panel's .next time you have them apart try using 4x8 sheet of 1/8" Polly bathroom shower board .it will last for ever no mold .used it for backing in my forty Chevy cutt easy with a jig saw

No on A
Not really on B
yes on C but still lean to B

If you have a reason for B then yes, like if you are really going to make it functioning.

If its just for looks then no, they are harder to see around and its like double the price for looks.

Guess I am more a function then a look guy.

All that being said they do look really nice so if you want it look cool then B.

Totally for looks. may get a supercharger one day. right now I just want the rust gone and if im dropping money on paint I figure upgrade now

On the manual tailgate conversion. I did mine all from lmc and love it. They did send a regulator that was misaligned, but they shipped a replacement. The lock mechanism is tricky to put together, but a youtube video helped out.

I think if it was a newer square that didn't have round eyes option C would be a good match but the regular cowl hood would look best IMHO. It's your rig though! On a side note... I've always loved cowl hoods and to be honest it amazes me that they never got old!
