Bigger is better...
Is the diesel radiator going to fit in a '78 ?
Is the opening big enough to put any air to the left side?

I put the standard 4 row in my '90, so the top of it is even with the top of the radiator support. I have the 11 blade Vortec fan on the TBI clutch. I run the standard 195* thermostat and can use the A/C while wheeling, in a somewhat black truck.

Big block?

Big block?
No, but I am thinking that the big block would mean not running the air when crawling. My '70 with a fat block could go wheeling with the old 4 row copper/brass, and use the A/C some, but I had to watch it. It just has the old school fan and clutch.

Edit. .. I was trying to compare my square nose experience to his..

@the_blaze my '70 has the same radiator dimensions as the one you posted. That's all that will fit in the support, so you have room to get more cooling capacity.

Can you tag me in his thread, I can't find it

His has the later front clip vs the round eye clip. Didn't think about the difference, but the 6.2 may not fit in the round I core support. Only option would be the Big Block radiator for the round eye clip.

My radiator that's in there now is around 20"ish tall and 34" wide and 3.25" deep

@skunked @kgblazerfive either of you know the part # and where to get the windstar Fans? With my fitech it could be the ticket.

Will switching to an aluminum radiator help much? I think I already have a big block 4 core.
This measures the same as what I have.

Maybe I need some kind of a mechanical fan upgrade.
Lol this would happen 2 weeks before blazer bash.

Windstar you can buy just about anywhere. Easy to install and make work. Junk yard or buy new from just about anybody even Summit.

Can help you wire it and or put it in.

The fans are cheap, like $75 new IIRC. Make sure you have the big radiator too, you need both.

I think I already have a big radiator it's 34" wide 20" tall and 3"thick. That's as big as I have been able to find and it makes my stock radiator in the 88 look tiny.

For some reason I can't find those dang fans... I found universal ones for $300.

What year and model should I be looking up? I'll go new because I'm in a rush.

The fans I bought for my 78 with the same radiator as yours are from a 1998 windstar. I pulled them myself, some sort of V6 I don't remember the displacement. I test fit them to my radiator and they fit well.
